PNC Bank in Sugar Grove is closing at end of October
The PNC Bank in Sugar Grove will close at the end of the month.
The 17 Main Street branch will close on Friday, Oct. 30. Existing customers will be transferred to the 117 E. Main St., Youngsville branch. “There is nothing additional customers will need to do in terms of their accounts,” PNC spokesperson Marcey Zwiebel said.
Letters were sent to customers regarding the closure and “customers with safe deposit boxes also received information about the process for moving the contents,” Zwiebel said.
PNC did not release the number of employees at the branch but Zwiebel said, “typically when PNC closes a branch, we do our best to reassign the staff.”
The bank also recently announced the closure of the downtown Warren branch, with customers being transferred to the East Side branch effective Friday, Dec. 4.
The reasons for both closings are the same – changes in the way people do their banking.
“We have been doing an evaluation of our branch network in response to the fact that the way customers are using branches is changing,” Zwiebel said. “Increasingly, customers are using more convenient, alternative channels such as online banking, mobile banking, and ATMs to conduct basic transactions.”
