3 charged in bank robbery

Three Warren County residents have been arrested and charged in connection with a bank robbery in Pleasantville on Thursday morning.

Franklin-based Pennsylvania State Police announced the arrests of Mikeal Lee Thomas, 36, Sheffield; Devan James Reese, 23, Warren; and Tiera Sue Oswalt, 18, Warren in a press release issued Thursday evening.

According to police, the suspects arrived in the Pleasantville area around 9:15 a.m.

Reese and Oswalt “waited in the getaway vehicle,” according to police, while Thomas entered a Northwest Savings Bank branch “wearing a disguise and handed the teller a note advising that this was a robbery.”

Police said Thomas “received the money from the teller drawer and fled the bank to the getaway vehicle.”

Police said the suspects fled the scene and traveled west on Route 27 toward Warren County.

Pennsylvania State Police from both the Warren and Franklin stations stopped the vehicle in Youngsville where the suspects were arrested.

“I believe they were followed by a Pennsylvania Constable all the way here,” said Youngsville Borough Police Chief Todd Mineweaser, whose department assisted state police. “Everything went smooth, they were apprehended as soon as they crossed the borough line on Thatchers Lane.”

According to a post on the Warren County Public Safety Facebook page at 11:04 a.m., “The 911 Center was informed as the vehicle passed the Warren County Fair Grounds and they were apprehended very quickly at the Shell (gas) station.”

Youngsville Elementary/Middle School, near the site of the arrest, “was locked and secure during the apprehension and will follow their normal schedule today.”

The press release said that each suspect was charged with conspiracy to commit robbery, robbery, theft and simple assault.

Each was arraigned before District Magistrate Andrew Fish in Oil City and remanded to the Venango County Jail in lieu of $175,000 bail.

Starting at $3.50/week.
