The rumors have been rife that Thorne’s BiLo is being purchased by Tops Market of Williamsville New York. On Friday, the rumors were borne out when the two companies signed an agreement.

Katie McKenna, Tops spokesperson, said, “Tops is always looking for opportunities to better serve our communities by expanding our network of stores within our existing footprint. Tops has entered into an agreement of intent to purchase the BiLo location in Warren, Pa. and anticipate that the close of the sale will occur within the next 60 days and is subject to customary closing conditions.”

There has been no word from Tops about the future of the gas pumps or credit for gas by buying groceries, or of any possible changes to the supermarket, its operation or employment.

Several attempts to reach William Thorne, of Thorne’s Marketing, were unsuccessful on Friday.

In addition to the Warren BiLo store, Thorne has seven other stores, two in Oil City, two in Alliance Ohio, and one each in Jefferson, Ohio, Cadiz Ohio and Carrolton, Ohio according to thornesmarket.com.
