LOVE YOUR LIBRARY FUNDRAISER CONTINUES

The Friends of the Youngsville Public Library’s 13th annual “Love Your Library’ Raffle Extravaganza fundraising event is going on through Friday, March 31.

This year there are actually 11 uniquely themed choices filled with gift cards, cash, and lottery tickets. Each of the 11 “themed options” has a value of $100 or more and each currently on display at the Youngsville Library. For a $5 donation participants will receive five tickets to be used toward the theme(s) of their choice; participants can purchase as many tickets as they’d like provided the total amount purchased is divisible by five. Winners will be contacted by phone, listed in the Times Observer, and on the library’s website and Facebook page.

“There are four businesses that each pledged $100 this year, so each of those businesses can be their own category since the goal is to keep each themed-option at $100 or more,” said Library Director Kristy Wallace. “Their generosity helped make it possible to have 11 options this year. Scott Olewine, of Olewine Financial Group in Warren has donated the $100 bill for the “Cold Cash” option for more years than I can even remember! This is the third year that Carter Lumber has donated a $100 gift card and it had been a popular choice because Carter’s has more than just building materials, Carter’s offers lumber to electrical, plumbing, and tools too. The other two businesses that donated $100 each this year are Youngsville Hardware and KAM’s logging supplies & outdoor wear. Both of these businesses are expanding what you might typically associate their businesses with and offering a lot of “outside the box” services; which is why we’re super excited that they’re on board this year. For example, Youngsville Hardware now offers HVAC installation and maintenance and water tanks, they’ve expanded their flooring options and services, and have just recently added general contracting services to their repertoire, all in addition to their great garden center etc. Of course KAM’s still offers high quality outdoor clothing (like DryShod brand footwear) and licenses for fishing and hunting etc. but now they also have indoor digital axe throwing games as well as indoor virtual golf, both are for a minimum of one-hour and can be individual or group play. They have details about it on their website.”

“It’s hard to just highlight one or two businesses because we are so appreciative of all the local support we receive each year. For instance Lonnie’s Pizza has donated $50 from day one and Genuine Jerky increased their donation to $50 this year. Our Board, YPL Friends group, staff, and I really are humbled by each business’s generosity. Our library truly depends on this fundraiser each year and we honestly couldn’t offer so many great prizes without their support.”

The 11 themed “Love Your Library” choices are: (#1) “Fill ‘er Up”: $50 Sheetz cards, $50 Kwik Fill cards; (#2) “Dinner & a Movie”: $50 Dipson Theater gift cards, $50 cash; (#3) “Keep on Scratching”: $100 in scratch off lottery tickets; “(#4) “Good Eats“: $25 Applebee’s, $20 Ida Mae’s (in Russell), $30 Mama Janes, $20 Ribs-n-Bones, $10 cash; (#5) “Got Ya Covered“: $100 Carter Lumber Gift Card; (#6) “From Outdoor needs to Indoor Fun“: $100 KAM’s logging supplies and outdoor wear, (#7) “Let’s go Shopping“: $50 Walmart card, $25 Tops Markets card, $25 cash; (#8) “You Name It, We Got It“: $100 Youngsville Hardware, (#9) “Cold Cash“: $100 bill, (#10) “Yngs Food & Bev“: $50 Lonnie’s Pizza, $25 Huey’s Restaurant, $25 Youngsville Homebrews coffee shop; and (#11) “Yngs Food & More“: $30 Dairy Queen card, $50 Genuine Jerky, $20 Outlet City/Simple Dick’s. Each gift card was generously donated by the merchant and the $100 bill for “Cold Cash” was provided by Scott Olewine of Olewine Financial Group in Warren, all other items are sponsored by the Friends of the Youngsville Library. This year we have some new donors which is why we can offer 11 options. Youngsville Hardware, KAM’s, Youngsville Homebrews, Ribs-n-Bones, and Ida Mae’s.

There is a friendly competition between the Youngsville YMCA and the other two YMCAs to see who can collect the most pennies (as each YMCA location will eventually have Blessing Boxes). Penny collection will continue through the end of February. Items that will be included in the Blessing Boxes include — but are not limited to — toiletries, nonperishable food, and seasonal clothing (i.e. gloves, hats). Community members in need of such items are then encouraged to take the items from the Blessing Box, as needed.
