LIBRARY TO HOLD STORY TIME AT FAIR

The Youngsville Public Library will hold story time at the Warren County Fair on Tuesday from 11 to 11:45 a.m. at the Fort Williams Gazebo area.

The campy, family-friendly program includes interactive stories and a free goodie bag filled with snacks, coloring page, take-home craft and more. The 2022 theme is Jack and the Beanstalk, including the giant’s perspective on this classic tale.

The gate admission rate is in effect at the Fair starting Tuesday.

LIBRARY NEWS

Free Job Workshops: On Wednesday, Rebecca Whitney will hold three separate career development workshops at the Youngsville Public Library. The first workshop is from noon to 1 p.m. and is an open, walk-in question-and-answer session where those attending can sak personalized questions regarding job searches, PA CareerLink, free job training opportunities, and more. No registration is needed.

From 1 to 2 p.m., Whitney will focus on SkillUP PA in an in-person session with walk-ins welcome. SkillUP PA provides access to more than 6,000 free, online skills training courses to help those looking for jobs to prepare for a new career path, enhance their existing skill-set, and more.

From 2 to 3 p.m., Whitney will lead “Cover Letter Writing Dos and Dont’s” available for in-person, virtual or by-phone attendance. The workshop does require registration by calling Whitney at 814-853-5141 or emailing Rebecca.Whitney@NWPACareerLink.org. Workshops count towards weekly unemployment requirements as they are part of PA CareerLink.

Free Snack Program: The Youngsville Public Library’s seventh annual free snack program (ages 18 and under) will continue through Friday, Aug. 19. Individually packaged snacks are located in the foyer and made available during business hours. Snack options include, but are not limited to: single serve macaroni and cheese; single serve oatmeal with granola and/or fruit and nuts; whole-grain, fruit-filled breakfast bars, and ‘hug-style’ drink bottles. 2022’s snacks are being provided in partnership with the Child Hunger Outreach Program.

Book club: The Youngsville Library’s book club will meet Tuesday from 3 to 4 p.m. The book to be discussed is “Born a Crime” by Trevor Noah.

ENTERTAINMENT

Music in Park, Warren: Free City of Warren Music in the Park at 7 p.m. Friday at Soldiers & Sailors Park will feature Kallie Williams on Aug. 12 and Whisky Joe performing classic rock on Aug. 26.

Free Family Movie Night: Friday, Aug. 18, at the Youngsville YMCA the movie “Inside Out” will be shown. Those attending should bring a blanket and/or chair for a movie night outdoors. The movie is sponsored by the Warren County Chamber of Business & Industry.

Free music at Chapman State Park: On Saturday, Aug. 13, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. “The Speckled Band” will be playing at the Chapman State Park Amphitheater (Pavilion #4) in Clarendon. No registration is necessary. The free program is open to the public. Bring chairs for seating.

Music in Park, Youngsville: Free Youngsville Music in the Park is held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursdays at Island Park. Thursday’s performer is to be determined while the Aug. 18 concert wil feature “Radio Active” The Island Park Summer Music Series is presented by Youngsville Recreation.

FUNDRAISING

The Garland Volunteer Fire Department will be opening its fundraiser booth at the Warren County Fair on Monday selling pop, tea, water, and Gatorade. The department will also have its summer giveaway tickets available for purchase ($2 per chance). First prize is a chest freezer and $500 meat package from Coffaro’s Butcher Shop Sugar Grove and the second prize is a $300 gift certificate from Bells Market in Kane, Pa. The drawing date is Saturday, Aug. 13, at the department’s booth at the Warren County Fair.
