Free Job Workshops: On Wednesday, Rebecca Whitney will hold three separate career development workshops at the Youngsville Public Library. From noon to 1 p.m., Whitney will lead a walk-in, question-and-answer period for job seekers to ask personalized questions regarding job searches, PA CareerLink and free job training opportunities. No registration is needed. From 1 to 2 p.m., SkillUp PA training will be held offering specialized help accessing more than 6,000 free training courses, career aptitude assistance and free, personalized career path training track options. The workshop is held in-person at the Youngsville Public Library. From 2 to 3 p.m., Whitney will lead an “Employer Expectations” workshop. Learn what employers are legally allowed to expect in the workplace and learn how to navigate workplace politics too. Attend the workshop in person at the library, virtually, or by cell or landline. BOROUGH NEWS

Spring clean-up: Spring clean-up for Youngsville Borough residents is scheduled for today from 8 a.m. to noon. ID is required. Minimum fees are $10 per car and and $20 per truck. There will also be a scrap collection today benefitting the Brokenstraw Valley Swimming Pool. No tires, batteries, paint cans, propane tanks, desktop or laptop computers, computer monitors, computer peripherals (accessories), televisions, or any other electronic device, or other hazardous materials will be accepted.

Pool Season Passes: The Brokenstraw Valley Swimming Pool will be open from June 11 through Aug. 13. Regular pool operation hours are 1 to 5 p.m. and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday unless otherwise posted for special events. Should inclement weather occur, the pool will close and reopen at the discretion of the pool director.

Pool season passes are now available for purchase. Season pass applications are located at the borough offices or can be downloaded from the Youngsville Library home page. An early bird special for those who buy season passes before May 31 can receive $10 off their total. SILVER GAMES EVENT

The inaugural Silver Cames for senior citizens in Warren and Forest counties who are ages 55 and up, sponsored by the Allegheny Community Center and YMCA in Warren, will be held Friday, June 3. Check-in is at the Warren YMCA at 8 a.m. Light breakfast will be available and lunch will be provided during the awards portion of the event. Registration is required by Friday, May 27. The cost is $5 per person. Hard copy registration forms are available at the ACC, YMCA and Youngsville Library. Registration forms can be downloaded at YoungsvilleLibrary.org. There will be individual activities, including a half-mile walk, gold putting, softball throw, team events that include ladder golf and bean bag toss, and an opportunity to learn/try pickle ball. PARTNERSHIP

The YMCA of Warren and the Allegheny Community Center are working together to provide art classes, cooking classes, make-and-take projects, and multi-generational programs. Adult classes include:

¯ Stain Glass Classes on May 10 and May 17 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Call the ACC to sign up at 814-723-4180.

¯ Grandma or Grandpa with KIDZ Art Classes will be held May 10 and May 17. Grandparent and grandchild are class from 11 a.m. to noon. Call the ACC to sign up (814-723-4180). More classes to follow.

FUNDRAISERS

Plant Sale: The Warren Garden Club will be holding its annual plant sale fundraiser on Saturday, May 14, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the General Joseph Warren Park, near St. Joseph’s Church off Pennsylvania Avenue West. There will be a selection of house plants, perennials, annuals, hanging-baskets, and garden plants to choose from and purchase.

Youngsville Volunteer Fire Department Chicken Barbecue: A chicken barbecue fundraiser will be held at the Youngsville Firehall on Sunday from noon until sold out.

Craft and Vendor Show: The Warren County Christian School’s annual craft and vendor show is today from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 165 Mead Run Road, Youngsville.

Rummage & Bake Sale: Today is the final day of Saron Lutheran Church’s annual rummage and bake sale. Hours are 9 a.m. to noon. There will be a $1 bag special. There is an elevator available for use.

CHILDREN MAY 10

The Youngsville Public Library’s monthly story time has a little bit of everything.

Diane Danielson, a Friend of YPLibrary member, leads activities from 10:30 to 11 a.m. the second Tuesday of each month. Story time is targeted for children between the ages of 3 and 5. No registration is required to participate.
