Youngsville Halloween events scheduled

The Youngsville United Methodist Church, 179 Davis St., will host a trunk or treat from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30. Those attending can come in costume and trick or treat indoors. There will be candy, games and food. Designated Halloween trick-or-treating hours in Youngsville will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 31. To date the Youngsville American Legion Auxiliary is also planning to have a trick or treat tent set up in front of the Legion on North Main Street.

LIBRARY EVENTS

On Wednesday, there will be free job assistance with Rebecca Whitney, PA Career Link staff member, at the Youngsville Library. From noon to 1 p.m. there is a “walk-in” opportunity for general questions and answers as well as job search help. From 1 to 2 p.m. Whitney is teaching a virtual and in-person “Budgeting 101” workshop, with pre-registration preferred. From 2 to 3 p.m., Whitney is teaching an in-person “Cover Letter Writing” workshop, also with pre-registration preferred. Workshops at the library will count towards a person’s weekly job requirement activities.

A free blood pressure screening will be held from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Monday. Narissa Greenland from LIFE NWPA will be offering free screening as well as giving away free NWPA swag bags and information about NWPA. No registration is necessary, call 844-456-5433 for questions.

The library will host a free story time from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday. No registration is required, target ages are 3 to 6, but all are welcome. Tuesday’s theme will be “Fall Fun” and will include stories, songs and more. State Library COVID policy currently dictates that for fully vaccinated individuals masks are optional and for unvaccinated persons, both adults and children,, masks are required. The Youngsville Public Library is now also open on Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each week.

“September 30th was the last day of my summer outreach programming,” said Kristy Wallace, library director. “Now that I am not using Tuesdays and Thursdays for off-site programming, I am once again able to devote each Tuesday to in-building services and am available to consistently man the circulation desk for the fall and winter.”

The Youngsville leaf pick-up schedule begins Monday. Borough residents are asked to rake leaves to the curb. Do not rake leaves into the street. Please, no stones. Bundle sticks and branches and pile separately.

Monday’s streets are Railroad, East Main, Davis, College, Orchard, Oak, and Church. Tuesday’s streets are Woodard, Poplar, Ford, IOOF, Marsh, Bates and Pleasant. Wednesday’s streets are Brown HIll, Water, Mill, HIghland, Second, West Main, Old Pittsfield, High, Broad, Beckenwood and Sonia. Thursday’s streets are Third to Ninth streets, Dillon, Division, North Main, Yucha, McGraw, Spring, Hillside and LaVerne. Fridays streets are any areas not completed on assigned days.
