On Tuesday, Jan. 14, at 12:30 p.m., there will be a free program at the Youngsville Public Library discussing “How to Manage Pain Successfully.” The program is presented by a representative from LIFE (Living Independence for the Elderly) NWPA. Katrina will also be available to answer questions about what options are available for home care assistance.

Free movie night

There will be a movie night on Friday, Jan. 10, at the Otterbein United Methodist Church (Dalrymple Street, Pittsfield). Movie night starts at 7 p.m. and the public is welcome (movie title TBA). Call 563-3333 with questions.

Free community meals menu

Free community meals at the JoyFull Cafe are usually held every Wednesday, from 5 to 6 p.m., at the Youngsville Free Methodist Church (179 Davis Street). Each of the meals is planned, prepared, and served by volunteers. The January menu is as follows: January 15th, pasta & salad bar; January 22nd, soup & sandwiches; January 29th, cheesy spinach chicken casserole & salad bar.

All meals are subject to change but changes are posted on the church website (ybfree.org) or on their Facebook page. If you are interested in helping with meal service, meal preparation, or would like to donate towards the cafe pantry, contact the church office at office@ybfree.org.

Fundraiser extended

Due to increased interest and demand for the 2nd Annual Geranium Fundraiser, the Youngsville Public Library is extending the order deadline to Monday, Jan. 13 (YPL business hours are noon to 7:30 p.m. on Mondays and noon to 4 p.m. Friday, closed Thursday). Think spring and plan ahead now for this year’s spring garden planting or memorial/cemetery plot planting. You can order red, white, hot pink, or light-salmon colored geraniums now through January 13. Each flat of 8′ 4″-pot-sized geraniums is only $30 per flat (tax is included in this price). The library is working with a local grower and the geraniums will be cultivated to order, which is why we need to have all orders finalized so soon. The geraniums will be available for pick-up the weekend after Mother’s Day, Saturday, May 16, at the Youngsville Public Library.

Order forms are available: (1) at the Youngsville Borough Office, (2) at the Youngsville Library, or (3) print an order form and view photos of the color choices online at www.YoungsvilleLibrary.org (community news tab).

If more convenient, place your completed order form and payment in our secure drop-box anytime from now to Monday, Jan. 13, and we will contact you, by phone, to confirm that we received your order via our drop-box.

Advantages to ordering from YPL now are: (1) you’ll be guaranteed to having enough of the color(s) you need for this spring’s planting, and (2) you’ll get a great bargain per flat of geraniums and help support Youngsville Library too. Geraniums are sold in same-color flats of eight per flat only, but you can mix and match with a friend. Payment is required at the time of the order.

Call 563-7670 with questions.
