ROY Christmas Basket
ROY has been working toward revitalizing Youngsville for the past 10 years. Nearly every year ROY has sponsored a Christmas basket. This year $246 was raised for the East Main Street Streetscape. The winner of the basket is Jetta Bishop. Congratulations Jetta, and thanks to all who bought tickets. Your support for ROY fundraisers, both large and small, sends an encouraging message to ROY’s volunteers. Thank You.
Taxes and Donations
If you think that you are going to owe the Government more in taxes for this year, last-minute 2015 donations to local non-profits may help ease the pain. The Brokenstraw Valley Fund or ROY, the Revitalization Of Youngsville would put your money to good use here. Wouldn’t you rather see your money at work locally than have it disappear in D.C. ?
The Brokenstraw Valley Fund has been established with the Community Foundation of Warren County as an endowment type fund that will provide funds in the future to help Valley organizations with approved community projects. Area served includes Irvine, Youngsville, Pittsfield, and Garland. CFWC has sweetened the deal by matching the first $25,000 donated-dollar for dollar. We have about $7,000 to go to meet our first goal of $25,000. If you donate $100 it will be like donating $200. That is a great return on your investment! The Brokenstraw Valley Fund would welcome your donation in any amount. Make your checks out to The Community Foundation of Warren County and put BVF donation on the purpose line. Please mail to Community Foundation of Warren County Box 691, 310 Second Ave., Warren, PA 16365. They will credit your donation to the BVF. Thank you for your support.
ROY’s success can be seen all over town. Railroad St. Streetscape, welcome signs and gardens, business facade improvements, community events, and general clean-up are just a few ROY accomplishments. But, ROY is not finished. The East Main St. Streetscape is the current project. A grant-writer has been hired, and he is ready to go, but we need to come up with “match money”. If we have it in hand when the grant is written, the grant is more likely to be awarded. Your donation in any amount will help move the project forward. Make your check out to the Revitalization Of Youngsville Box 330 Youngsville, PA 16371 with Streetscape on the purpose line.
Businesses who took advantage of the Youngsville Facade Match Program funded through the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development: Holmberg Hair Salon /Ralston Computer Service; Bower Barber Shop; United Methodist Church;Northwest Savings Bank; Youngsville Hardware; Paul Leofsky Apartments and Kozy Korner Laundry Mat.

The Revitalization Of Youngsville Association Meeting
The Revitalization Of Youngsville Association met on Monday, December 14, 2015 at Joanne Oviatt’s home for a luncheon meeting to discuss Area Hometown Heroes Banners.
The Hometown Heroes Banner Project, recommended in Youngsville’s Community Work Plan composed by the Pennsylvania Rt. 6 Alliance, is where banners can be purchased by family members, businesses, organizations and through fundraisers to honor past and present champions who have contributed to the Youngsville Area.
The banners will serve as a reminder of Warren Country’s history and what the Youngsville Area has contributed to our Nation. Each banner will be unique and honor a specific Youngsville Area historical or military service person; it will include his/her photo, name, branch of service and era of service or their historical significance.
One suggestion was that a guide book be placed at various locations, such as the Wilder Museum, the Visitor’s Center, and the Library, with brief stories of each hero. In this way, those following the banner tour could be informed about the heroes who influenced our area. “It’s the stories that make history interesting,” said Joanne Oviatt. “The banners will show that the memories of those who have contributed to our county will live on forever.”
The proposed route for the banners is to display them on street poles along Railroad Street, down Old Route 6, which is Main Street, to the Wilder Museum of Warren County History located in Irvine. Because it commemorates the history of our area the hope is that it will stimulate tourism.
The next meeting of the committee will be in February with plans to gather input from several service organizations such as the Rouse Estate, American Legion, Volunteer Fire Department, Ladies Auxiliary and others who are proud to have contributed to the well-being of the Youngsville Area.
For information or to be part of the planning committee contact Joanne Oviatt at 814-563-4286 or email Nancy Holmberg at nancyholmberg@hotmail.com. Please put Hometown Heroes in the subject line of your email.

We are very lucky to have a community that values its library and understands what a vital resource we are for basic computer needs’, Wi-Fi, DVDs, and so much more.
