Book or the Movie- Why not both?
“A Walk in the Woods”, “The Scorch Trials”, “Black Mass”, and “Everest” are just a few of this year’s most current movies. But did you know that these movies are all based on actual books and that Youngsville Public Library has them available for checkout. Did you miss any of these while they were in the theater: “Me, Earl, and the Dying Girl,” “Paper Towns,” “Child 44,” “Serena,” “The Longest Ride,” “Insurgent,” and “Still Alice”? Well it’s not too late to catch up on their story line as these books are available at Youngsville Public Library too.
“Youngsville Public Library currently has twenty books that already have been movies in 2015 or are going to be released by the end of the year,” said Library Director Kristy Wallace. “For example, the trailer for ‘The Martian’ by Andy Weir is currently out now and the movie will be released in theaters in late November, but we already have the book available here at Youngsville Public Library”
Other movies that were books first include: “Mocking Jay, Part 2” – in theaters in November, “The Revenant” – starring Leonardo DiCaprio and in theaters in late December, and “In the Heart of the Sea” – which tells the story of the Essex, a ship that was sunk by a whale in 1819, leaving the crew at sea for more than 90 days, will be released in theaters in early December. The original journals from the Essex’s first mate, Owen Chase, influenced Herman Melville’s story “Moby Dick.”
