Photos submitted to Times Observer Volunteers gave 1,935 hours of their time to help throughout the school year. This year, the top volunteers was Amanda Shields with 245 volunteer hours.

Senior Center Menu

Thursday, June 29 will be Baked Ham Slice with fruit sauce, mashed potatoes with chives, summer beet salad, wheat bread and chocolate pudding.

Monday, July 3 and Tuesday, July 4 the center will be closed for the Holiday.

Thursday, July 6 will be Sausage Scramble, breakfast potatoes, wheat bread with jelly and banana.

Monday, July 10 will be Pepper Steak with peppers and gravy, garlic mashed potatoes, mixed vegetable medley, wheat bread and fresh baked cookie.

Tuesday, July 11 will be Chicken Cobb Salad with diced chicken-egg-cheese and sprinkle of bacon bits, noodle soup with crackers, dinner roll and pineapple tidbits.

Thursday, July 13 will be Sweet Turkey Sausage Minestrone over bowtie noodles, green beans, Italian bread and fresh fruit.

Monday, July 17 will be Club Sandwich (ham, turkey cheese, lettuce and tomato), cauliflower soup with crackers, white read and fresh fruit.

Tuesday, July 18 will be Baked Chicken, stuffing ball, mashed potatoes, green beans, white bread and fruit salad.

Thursday, July 20 will be Sweet and Sour Meatballs (3), Rice Pilaf, vegetable medley, white bread and applesauce.

Monday, July 24 will be Meatball Sandwich with sauce and cheese, sandwich roll, seasoned redskins, mixed bean medley and fresh fruit.

Tuesday, July 25 will be Roasted Turkey with gravy, mashed potatoes, peas and carrots, wheat bread and vanilla ice cream.

Thursday, July 27 will be Baked Chicken Thigh, wild rice, brussel sprouts, wheat bread and apricots.

Monday, July 31 will be Hot Roast Beef Dinner with gravy, shipped potatoes, mixed vegetables, white bread, birthday cake.

Call the center at 814-484-3020 to sign up for the lunches at least two days in advance.

Food Commodity

Salvation Army Food Commodity will be held on Wednesday, June 28 at Tidioute Towers from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Those receiving the food must fill out a new application as they do every July.

You must show your yellow card when you come on Wednesday. This is a MUST.

No one will be allowed to pick up food orders for anyone else.

Borough Office Closed

Tidioute Borough Office will be closed on Monday, July 3 and Tuesday, July 4 for the Holiday.

Office hours will resume on Wednesday, July 5 at 8 a.m.

Garbage Pick-up

Tidioute residents will had their garbage picked up on Friday, July 7 due the Holiday next week.

Pig Roast

Tidioute American Legion Post 334 will be holding a Pig Roast on Saturday, July 1 starting at 3 p.m. behind the Legion Post located just south of the Tidioute bridge.

Cost is $10 per dinner and you can get a takeout or eat there.

Proceeds benefit the Elzie E Lynch AM Legion Post 334, the Sons of the AM Legion Post 334 and the Auxiliary of Am Legion Post 334.

Bingo

Tidioute Area Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary will host an afternoon of Bingo on Saturday, July 8 at the Tidioute firehall.

Doors open at 1 p.m. and the games begin at 2 p.m.

There is a Jackpot. Kitchen will be open for food orders.

Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Raft Races

The Annual Anything That Floats Raft Races will be held on Saturday, July 8 at 11 a.m.

Start time is 11 a.m. behind the Wildwood.

Theme is “Great Outdoors.”

Cost is $5 per person. Prizes will be awarded for the Most Spectacular, Most Riders, Sticking with the theme, Oldest participant and youngest participant and the one who traveled the furthest.

Prizes will be awarded at the Tidioute Boat Launch at the end of the race.

Colt 45

Servicemen’s Home Corp has tickets for a Colt 45 ACP.

Cost is $2 each with the drawing on September 18, 2017.

Mossburg Winner

The winner of the Mossburg “Patriot” 243 Cal. Bolt Action was James Russo.

Drawing was held by members of the Servicemen’s Home Corp.

CDBG Funds

Tidioute Borough residents may apply for Community Development Block Grant funds, (CDBG) to replace their deteriorated sidewalks.

They must be the owner of the property.

There is $26,000 allocated to this activity, it is estimated that approximately 6 property owners can be assisted in replacing their sidewalks through the borough.

Smoke Detectors

Tidioute Area Volunteer Fire Department has free Smoke Detectors to any household that would like to have them.

These are free to the public as they were donated to the fire department by Tidioute Lions Club.

To obtain your free smoke detectors, please call the firehall at 814-484-3555 on Sunday mornings from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. or Thursday evenings from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

All-American Youth Horse Show Hunter

Hailie Cass, a junior at Tidioute Community Charter School, won the Hunter Over Fences Senior Division at the All American Youth Horse Show in Columbus, Ohio for ages 14-18 years old at 2 feet 6 inches on May 14, 2017.

Cass placed 4th in the Working Hunter, 1st in the Hunter Hack and 1st in the Equitation over fences and was named the Grand Champion of the Senior Hunter Division.

Hailie’s team mate is a 13 year old Palomino Quarter Horse gelding named Skip A Super Jet. Skip was born, raised and trained at Miracle Mountain Ranch in Spring Creek, PA and has spent his life teaching kids to ride. Hailie has owned Skip for two years. They started their career together, as neither of them had shown before.

Hailie is a member of the Sanford Saddle and Spurs 4-H Club and she rides on the Interscholastic Equestrian Association High School Equestrian Team “Lake Effects” in Edinboro, PA.

Winchester Model 94, 30-30

Elzie E. Lynch American Post 334 members are selling tickets on a Winchester Model 94, 30-30 caliber U.S. Cavalry Comm. Carbine, Issued 01-31-79.

The gun is new and unfired still in the box, S/N 8014

Tickets are only $2 each or 3 for $5 and the drawing is set for July 4, 2017 Winner need not be present to win.

Community Dinner

The next Community Dinner will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Tidioute Fire Hall from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Meals are free to those who want them, donations accepted.

Tidioute Lions Club still has several of the Recycling Totes with lids for your recycling items.

TCCS Volunteer Of Year

Tidioute Community Charter School and the PTO would like to thank all of their volunteers this year; they gave 1,935 hours of their time to help throughout the school year.

They do appreciate all that you do. The volunteers help with field trips, in the classroom, parties, events sporting events, and much more.

Every year they honor the volunteer with the most hours for the year, this year the top volunteer was Amanda Shields with 245 volunteer hours
