Thursday, February 23 will be breakfast for lunch of egg omelet with cheese, breakfast sausage, breakfast potatoes, bread and jelly and fresh navel orange.

Monday, February 27 will be Pepper Steak with onions and peppers, parsley noodles, baby carrots, whole wheat bread, birthday cake.

Tuesday, February 28 will be Beef Stew with potatoes and vegetables, mixed greens with tomato, carrots, cabbage and dressing, biscuit and warm applesauce.

Thursday, March 2 will be Hot Dog, whipped potatoes, sauerkraut, hot dog bun, chocolate brownie.

Monday, March 6 will be Pork Loin with gravy, scalloped potatoes, sweet peas with onions, dinner roll, fresh seasoned fruit, birthday cake.

Tuesday, March 7 will be Stuffed Cabbage Roll with tomato sauce, whipped potatoes, yellow beans, whole wheat bread, diced pears.

Thursday, March 9 will be Italian Meatball Hoagie with sauce and cheese, seasoned new potatoes, mixed bean medley, hoagie bun, tapioca pudding.

Monday, March 13 will be Baked Ham Slice with fruit sauce, orange kissed mashed sweet potatoes, Brussel sprouts, whole wheat bread, vanilla ice cream.

Tuesday, March 14 will be BBQ Chicken Breast, seasoned redskin potatoes, country vegetable blend, dinner roll, sugar cookie.

Thursday, March 16 will be ST Patrick’s Day Special of Corned Beef and Cabbage, parsley potatoes, crinkle cut carrots, wheat dinner roll, sliced peaches with oatmeal topping.

Monday, March 20 will be Meatloaf with gravy, whipped potatoes, Italian Beans, whole wheat bread, banana pudding.

Tuesday, March 21 will be Ham and Scalloped Potatoes Casserole, braised cabbage, green beans, dinner roll, strawberry ice cream.

Thursday, March 23 will be Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad with mixed greens and tomatoes, Navy bean soup with crackers, Italian Bread, diced pears.

Monday, March 27 will be Roast Turkey and Gravy, homemade stuffing, baby carrots, mashed potatoes, warm cinnamon “Birthday Cake”.

Tuesday, March 28 will be Penne Pasta with Meatballs, with sauce, mixed greens with tomato, cucumbers, carrots, cabbage, Italian bread, and sliced peaches.

Thursday, March 30 will be Open Face Roast Beef Sandwich with gravy, whipped potatoes, peas and carrots, whole wheat bread, and sugar cookie.

The family of Crystal Williams would like to thank everyone who helped in any way during her illness and her funeral.

Food Commodity

The Salvation Army will have their Food Commodity food pick up on Wednesday, February 22 from 8:30 a.m. to 10 am. In the community room at Tidioute Towers.

Miss Tidioute Pageant

Once again there will be a Miss Tidioute Pageant held at the Tidioute Community Charter School.

This year the pageant will be held on Saturday, May 13 at 7 p.m. with members of the tenth, eleventh and twelfth grades eligible to enter.

Applications are available in the homeroom of Mr. Guerra at TCCS.

All applications and essays must be returned to Linda Scott, pageant director no later than March 17. The essay should be written on “What I Like About the Fishing Tournament”.

Tidioute girls who are attending a school outside of Tidioute, are homeschooled, or are doing Cyber school, are also welcome to enter the pageant.

Each contestant will receive gifts just for entering the pageant and Miss Tidioute will receive cash, tier, sash, flowers and gifts from local merchants, First Runner Up receive cash, and plaque, Second Runner Up receives cash and plaque, Miss Congeniality (selected by the contestants themselves) receives a plaque, People’s Choice receives a plaque and the Best Essay receives a plaque.

Rehearsal dates and times will be announced.

The pageant was moved back to the spring time due to the fact that the girls just return to school in September and there is not enough time to prepare the girls for a September pageant.

Deerfield Township

Openings

Deerfield Township Municipality has openings for two supervisors, must be a resident of Deerfield Township for this position, one secretary/treasurer and one part-time road foreman.

Qualifications and requirements needed will be announced at a later date.

You must be able to work for the Betterment of the people of Deerfield Township.

Township meetings are the second Monday of each month with the next one being on Monday, March 13 at 7 p.m. at the township building.

Sweetheart Dance

Tidioute Community Charter School will be hosting a Sweetheart Dance for Kindergarten through grade 6 on Friday, February 24 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the school cafeteria.

This is a semi-formal dance with admission of $5 for a student and their adult guest.

Light refreshments will be served.

Boys bring their Moms and girls bring their Dads or a favorite adult to the event.

The dance is sponsored by the PTO of Tidioute Community Charter School.

Doggie Clean Up

Dog owners are reminded once again to clean up after their pooch as there is an ordinance in Tidioute Borough and someone captures a picture of your dog defecating on their property and your not cleaning it up you can receive a fine.

So let’s be kind to our neighbors and clean up after your dog/dogs.

VFW Auxiliary Meeting

VFW Auxiliary of Post 8803 will meet on Saturday morning February 25 at 9:30 a.m.

All members are reminded to attend.

Tippy Chili Cook Off

Tippy Canoe will hold their 14th Annual Chili Cook Off on Sunday, February 26 at 1 p.m.

Entries should be there by 12:30 -12:45. Judging will begin at 1 p.m.

Fire Department

Auxiliary Meeting

Members of the Tidioute Fire Department Auxiliary and anyone wanting to join should be at the meeting on Tuesday, February 28 at 5:30 p.m.

Members of the Tidioute Area Volunteer Fire Department will be on Tuesday, February 28 at 6:30 p.m.

All members are urged to attend.

They are always excepting new members and of course current members and lifetime members are urged to attend.

VFW Chili Cook Off

VFW Post 8803 will host their Chili Cook-Off on Saturday, March 4 along with a Pie Bake Off.

This will begin at 1 p.m. followed by the Chinese Auction/Raffle sponsored by the VFW Auxiliary.

VFW Post 8803 Auxiliary members are having a Chinese Auction/Raffle on Saturday, March 4 following the Chili Cook Off.

Items for the Auction can be left at the VFW Post from now till Friday, March 3.

Pierogi Sales

St John Church in Tidioute, PA will be selling frozen Pierogi as a fund raiser during Lent this year every Saturday from March 4 through April 8 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in St John Center.

The ladies will be making potato and cheese pierogi and potato and sauerkraut pierogi.

Pre-order each week by Thursday to guarantee availability.

Walk ins are welcome.

Cost is $9 per dozen and $6 per half dozen.

Benefit for Lou Fratrich

Friends of the Tidioute Community Charter School will hold a Cancer Benefit for Lou Fratrich at the Tidioute Fire Hall on Saturday, March 4, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Lou has been a teacher at Tidioute Community Charter School since 2008 and has been part of the TCCS team as a teacher and administration.

He was recently diagnosed with esophageal cancer and has under gone an extensive surgery. He will be off work for several months recovering from that surgery.

A benefit will be held in his honor to help raise money to cover travel and hotel cost while he is going back and forth to Pittsburgh.

The benefit will be on Saturday, March 4 form 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. there will be a DJ for dancing, basket raffles, small games of chance and light refreshment.

It is a BYOB event. Admission to the benefit is $10.

There is also a separate raffle for a 40 inch TV with tickets costing $3 each or 4 for $10. The TV will be drawn at the benefit. You do not need to be present to win the TV.

Bingo at Buccardo’s

There will be Bingo Games at Buccardo’s Restaurant on Sunday, March 5 with doors opening at 12 noon and games starting at 1 p.m.

This event is sponsored by Pennsylvania State Championship Fishing Tournament. All are welcome. Those under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Kitchen will not be open, if you would like to being Finger Food items to share that would be great.

Cash payouts for all games.

Soup Dinners

Tidioute Presbyterian Church, Women’s Association will be having a Soup Dinner on Tuesday, March 7 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. soups include Stuffed Pepper, Chili and Chicken and Wild Rice. With crackers, bread, salad and dessert. Everyone is welcome. Cost is by donations at the door.

There will also be two other soup dinners: with the next one being on Tuesday, March 21 from 4-6 and one on Tuesday, April 4 from 4- 6 p.m.

3rd Annual Pub Crawl

The 3rd Annual Pub Crawl will be held on Saturday, March 18.

This event will start off with a 4 p.m. dinner at the Tidioute Firehall, then the Pub Crawl will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and then there will be an After Party at the firehall from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. featuring “Smokin 45”

Come and join your friends for a night filled with fun, giveaways, and great charity.

For the entire event, dinner, Crawl, and After Party cost is $25 per person; a shirt only is $15 and to hear the band only the cost is $10

Basketball Tournament

Tidioute Community Charter School Spanish Club will be hosting a Basketball Tournament to raise funds for the 2018 trip to Spain.

This tournament will be on Friday, March 24 at 6:30 p.m. at the school.

There will be food and beverages available for purchase, hoop shoot contest and a 50/50 raffle.

Donations of hot dogs and buns with the condiments are needed as well as individual sized bags of chips, pop, water and Gatorade.

Health Fair

The 22nd Annual Tidioute Health Fair will be held on Saturday, March 25 from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m.

There are still openings for the blood draws from 9: 40 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. and to make an appointment, please call Linda Scott at 484-7525.

The comprehensive blood testing is $40 and they will test for Heart Disease, Kidney Disease, Diabetes, Thyroid Function, Anemia, and Liver Disease.

Men have the option of a prostate cancer testing for an additional fee of $17 and there is also an A1C test for an additional cost of $10.

There will be information and interactive displays as well as lots of free screenings available.

This is sponsored by Warren General Hospital in cooperation with Tidioute Fire Department.

Ambulance Memberships

Tidioute Area Volunteer Fire Department has sent out the new ambulance memberships to those who had it last year. For those who did not have a membership before and want one you can pick up an application at Buccardo’s, Tidioute Post Office, Evans Market, Tidioute Trading Post and Kings Building Supply. Fill out the application and return it to the fire department with your payment for the plan you selected and you will be all set.

TCCS Open Enrollment

Tidioute Community Charter School will be accepting enrollments for the 2017-2018 school year on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 with an Open House for Enrollment.

Open House will run from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.

March 1st starts the “Letter of Interest” form that can be found on the schools web site or in the school office.

During this three month period they collect all of the letter s and then determine if they need to have a lottery for enrollment for the upcoming school year.

The letters are dated and timed as to when they were received.

If they receive more applications than spots available, then they have a lottery to determine who will fill the available spots.

March Madness

Sons of the American Legion Post 0334 still have some tickets for the March Madness TV raffle.

Tickets are only $5 each and there are only 500 tickets being sold.

Drawing will be on March 11, 2017.

Winner need not be present to win.

Henry Big Boy

Servicemen’s Home Corporation is holding their raffle for a Henry Golden Boy 22LR.

Tickets are only $2 each and the drawing will be on March 20, 2017.

Winner need not be present to win.

Fishing Tournament

Committee members of the Pennsylvania State Championship Fishing Tournament team met on Sunday afternoon and had a recap of the past year and tournament.

The Carnival will be provided by Trowver of Gibsonton, Florida once again.

A 1972 Triumph Motorcycle has been restored and will be raffled off as a fund raiser for the tournament. Tickets will be $5 each and the drawing will be Sunday, September 24, 2017. Tickets will be available soon.

Easter Egg Hunt will be on Saturday, April 15 at 10 a.m.

Miss Tidioute Pageant will be Saturday, May 13 at Tidioute School at 7 p.m. and is open to the public.

The Car Show will be revised by Bob Williams, Jim Mechling, and Tyler Redick with a date to be announced.

Ham and Turkey on May 28 with doors opening at 6:30 and games beginning at 7:30 p.m. and another one Sunday, September 3. Both at the Tidioute Firehall.

Tournament Newspaper has been taken over by Linda Scott and any business or organization wishing to place an ad in the paper should contact Scott at 814-484-7525. Deadline for placing ad is set for April 21 to allow time for layout and proof reading prior to printing.

Ads cost $40 for 1/8 of a page; ™ page will be $ 80; ¢ page will be $135 and a full page will be $235.

Parade Themes will be decided by casting your monetary votes, with canisters placed at Tidioute Trading Post, Evans Market and Buccardo’s Restaurant. Themes to choose from include: Medieval, Tailgating, Mythology, Mardi Gras, Creating You Own Fun.

Board members include Dan Gazalie, Russell Glenn, Dan Parker, Sue Brown, Helen Williams, Nathan Brown, and Tammy Silvis with Nathan Brown as President, Dan Gazalie as Vice President, Helen Williams as secretary and Tammy Silvis as Treasurer.

General Chairman is Dan Gazalie, Secretary- Kylei Davison, and Marsha Brown as Treasurer.

Grand Prizes will be determined at the next meeting.

The next meeting will be on Sunday, March 19 at 1 p.m.

Ark Encounter/Creation Museum

Those who have signed up for the trip to Noah’s Ark Encounter and he Creation Museum with Judy Sabella are reminded that the deposit of $100 is due on Wednesday, March 1 and the balance is due by May 1.

There are still some seats available if anyone else is interested. The trip is set for June 19 an 20.
