Good Friday Service

The Chandlers Valley United Methodist church on Jackson Run Road is hosting a Good Friday service on April 14 at 3:00 p.m. The service is open to everyone.

Easter Sunrise Service

The Sugar Grove Community will be holding a Community Easter Sunrise Service at the United Methodist Church starting at 7:00 a.m. The church is located at the triangle of Race St. and Jamestown St. All the local churches will be taking part and a light breakfast will be served after the service.

Fishing Contest

On Saturday April 15th a Wonderkids Fishing Contest is being sponsored by Chandlers Valley United Methodist Church. This corresponds to the first day of trout season. The event will take place by the dam on Jackson Run in Chandlers Valley and run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The cost is a donation. There will be four different age groups: 7 & under, 8-10, 11-13 and 14-16. Registration forms are available from Pastor Mark Hurst at the Lander United Methodist Church or you can pick one up the morning of the contest. Easter Egg Hunt

The Sugar Grove American Legion Post #758 will be hosting an Easter Egg Hunt at the Post Home on Saturday, April 15th starting at 10:00 a.m. This event is for kids age 12 and under.

Book Club

The Sugar Grove Free Library Book Club will be meeting on April 24th at 6:30 p.m. at the Library. It was suggested that for the April Meeting each person bring one or more of their favorite books from their childhood or young adulthood along with a favorite snack from childhood. Join us and feel young again with our favorites from childhood.

Journey To The Cross

On Good Friday, April 14th, the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church will have the unique “Journey to the Cross,” a thought provoking walk through the days just before, during, and after the crucifiction. Go at your own pace, reflecting on reminders and short readings along the way. The event will begin at 11:30 a.m. and you may visit anytime until 5:30 p.m

Pancake Breakfast

There will be a Pancake Breakfast on April 22nd from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Lottsville United Methodist Church. It will include sausage, fresh maple syrup, pancakes and fruit pies.

Melissa Courtney Scholarship Benefit Dinner

A benefit dinner for the Melissa Courtney Memorial Scholarship Fund will be held at the Sugar Grove Fire Hall on April 8th from 4:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. The food will be ready to serve starting at 5:00 p.m. Dinner will be scalloped potatoes, meatballs, Italian sausage, baked beans, chicken alfredo, salad and bread. DJ Stray Kat will be on hand for entertainment. There will be food, fun, a choice auction, 50/50 raffles There will be also be draft beer, wine, pop and water for purchase. The cost is a $10 donation, per person. The Melissa Courtney Scholarships have been awarded in Warren, Chautauqua, and Cattaraugus Counties. Story Hour Returns

The Sugar Grove Free Library will be having their story hour program every Tuesday from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The program is open to all ages. Anyone who would like to come and explore the joy of reading is welcome.

Ham Party

The Lander Fire Hall will hold a Ham Party on April 8th. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m.

Help Needed

The Sugar Grove Community is organizing groups to come together and get the Sugar Grove Ball Fields ready for play. Volunteers are needed on April 9th and April 23rd in preparation for the upcoming season. The fields will be dug up with more dirt added and volunteers are needed to come and help pick rocks and spread dirt. This is not only for parents who have children playing ball, but for anyone in the community. Please bring your shovels and feel free to contact Julie Morrison if you have any questions. The fields are owned by the Sugar Grove Borough.

Spring Break

Just a reminder that the Eisenhower Elementary School and Eisenhower Middle High School will be off for Spring Break on Friday, April 14th and Monday, April 17th. Classes will resume on Tuesday, April 18th.

Special Visitor Luncheon

The Eisenhower Elementary School students will have the opportunity to bring a Special Visitor to lunch on April 10th, 11th, or 12th. Check with your students on their scheduled days and join them for lunch. You will also have the opportunity to shop at the EES Book Fair.
