Sugar Grove Life

Second Harvest Food Pantry

The Second Harvest Mobile Food Pantry will be held at the Sugar Grove Free Methodist Church Gym on Saturday, February 25th. The Distribution begins at 8:00 a.m. and continues until approximately Noon at 210 Jamestown Street in Sugar Grove. Any questions about the Food Pantry or Second Harvest distribution can be directed to the church office at (814) 489-3105.

Art and Talent Show

Tuesday, February 28th the Eisenhower Elementary School will be holding their Art and Talent Show. The students will be able to show off artwork and creations they have made at home. This is in conjunction with the Elementary School Talent Show that will also take place on this evening. The artwork will be judged and some great prizes awarded. Then coming up in March the school will hold a second Art Show with creations they have made in classes. This will be happening along with their Elementary Concert on March 9th. Concert times will be Grades 1-2-3 from 6:30 – 7:00 p.m., Grades 4-5 and Band from 7:15 – 8:00 p.m.

Warren Gives

Each year the single day of giving for the Warren Gives program provides needed funds to business and organizations in the Sugar Grove area. The Warren Gives program will be happening in May. There will be an informational meeting at the Sugar Grove Library on Saturday, March 4th from 11:00 a.m. – Noon. Any Sugar Grove Area Organization that would like information on 2017 Warren Gives procedures and how to get registered to receive funds should attend this informational meeting.

Winter Trap Shoot

Sunday, February 26th the AMVETS Post 50 in Sugar Grove will be hosting the league Winter Trap shoot. They will be sponsoring breakfast from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. for a minimal fee. Beginning at noon the AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary will have a Bake Sale fundraiser with proceeds assisting the Sugar Grove Library and the “Support Our Troop” mailing. There will also be a Chicken Barbeque beginning at 1:00 p.m. and the cost is $8.00. Take outs will be available. Stop by the AMVETS Post 50 anytime time and support one of these great events to help Veterans Helping Veterans in the Sugar Grove Community. Stay for all the events and you don’t have to cook all day.

Mr. EHS

Any students in grades 11 or 12 can compete in this year’s Mr. EHS Competition. The Mr. EHS Competition will be held on March 1st in the auditorium and is always very entertaining.

Book Club

Monday night, February 27th will be the monthly Sugar Grove Free Library Book Club. The read this month is “A Man Called Ove”. Pick up a copy and join the group at the library for this fun read. The group begins at 6:30 p.m.

Community Lunches

A community lunch will be held on Friday, March 3rd at the Mission Covenant Church. Each month the community lunch is held on the 1st Friday of the month at the Mission Covenant Church at the corner of Matthews Run and Jackson Run Road. On the 2nd Thursday of each month at the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church located at the corner of Race and Jamestown Streets in Sugar Grove. On the 3rd Wednesday of the month at the Hessel Valley Lutheran Church located in Chandlers Valley. All lunches begin at 11:30 a.m. Everyone is invited to attend.

World Day of Prayer

A community World Day of Prayer Service will be held Friday. March 3rd at the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church at 7:30 p.m. David Hoisington from Youngsville has just returned from a Missions Trip to Mexico and will be the featured speaker.

Ash Wednesday

On Wednesday, March 4th the Lottsville United Methodist Church will be holding an Ash Wednesday Service at 7:00 p.m. Also, Pastor Shelia Auer will have ashes imposed during the day on Ash Wednesday in the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church Education Building Parking lot (drive-in service) starting at 1:30 p.m.
