The 13th Annual Joe Shall Memorial Pool Tournament was a success once again. Taking place at the Sheffield VFW Post 8755 with a great turn out of competitors. The inner was Quintin Miller, who donated his winnings back to the Sheffield Trap Team.

RECYCLEATHON

On Saturday, April 13, at the Sheffield High School, there is going to be a Warren County collection event, Recycleathon, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. You must pre-register by calling 1-866-815-0016, or register online at www.ecsr.net. This is an opportunity for you to get rid of those big old tv’s and any other electronics that you need to get rid of along with household and hazardous waste.

Steve Ettinger Benefit

There will be a benefit for Steve Ettinger and family at the Cherry Grove Fire Department on Saturday, April 6, starting at 1 p.m. The organizers are looking for donations. Contact Curvin Johnson at (814) 598-2537, Ashley Swanson at (814) 688-8367 or Steph Lindberg at (814) 706-6540 to make a donation or to contribute a basket for the basket raffle. There are “big” 50/50 tickets, plus hourly 50/50’s, basket raffles, a corn hole tournament, dinner will be available, and a bake sale as well.

Sheffield Township Spicer Road Project

Residents of Spicer Road are invited to a informational meeting with the Warren County Conservation District, township supervisors and the township engineer on Monday, March 18, at 6 p.m. at the Sheffield Food Pantry. Questions will be answered at this time.

Music on the Mountain DCI Show Benefit Stuffed Chicken Breast Dinner

On Sunday, April 28, at the Sheffield Senior Center from noon to 3 p.m. is the Music on the Mountain DCI Show Benefit Stuffed Chicken Breast Dinner. The cost is $10 and takeouts are available.

Sheffield Cemetery News

It’s that time of year again where we need you to remove all of the wreaths on the lots at the Sheffield Cemetery. March 1 was the deadline, so the crew has removed what they can and what isn’t frozen to the ground. If you did not get to the cemetery to take care of this yourself, the wreaths will be beside the garage, but will be disposed of soon.

2nd Annual Bob Fitch Memorial Golf Scramble

The Sheffield VFW Post 8755 will be holding the 2nd Annual Bob Fitch Memorial Golf Scramble on Saturday, May 25, at Cable Hollow Golf Course in Russell with a 1 p.m. shotgun start. The price to participate will be $65/golfer or $260/4-person team. This will include golf, hot dogs at the turn, dinner, and door prizes. Skilled prices include Scratch Division Top Team, Scratch Mixed/Ladies Top Team and Handicap Division (Peoria).

Contact the VFW if interested in playing or sponsoring this event. All proceeds from this event will benefit the Sheffield VFW Hospital Equipment Fund.

Knights of Columbus Fish Fry

Every Friday during lent is the Knights of Columbus Fish Fry from 5 to 7 p.m. at the St. Paul Center in Saybrook. The cost is $10 for a fish dinner, complete with great fish, fries, applesauce or coleslaw, dessert, and a drink. Eat in or take out.

Sheffield-Barnes Parish Open Doors Dinner at Sheffield UMC

On Monday, March 25th from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Sheffield UMC at 11 West Main Street, is the next Open Doors Dinner. Spaghetti and meatballs is on the menu for this dinner, complete with a salad and dessert — all free of charge. Donations are always accepted.
