Audubon Photography Club To Meet Oct. 3
The Audubon Photography Club will meet from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at the Audubon Community Nature Center. A brief presentation is offered at the end to help develop nature photography skills. To be included in September's slideshow, by Wednesday, Sept. 30, submit five photos under the meeting’s themes of "signs of fall" or "leaves" to Taylor Spontaneo, club coordinator and nature educator, at TSpontaneo@AudubonCNC.org. Coffee and tea are provided. Depending on weather and time, at the end of the meeting participants will go outside to take pictures and/or walk around the trails for a bit. Participation is $4 for adults, $3 for Nature Center members and children ages 9-15. Reservations are appreciated by calling 716-569-2345 or going to AudubonCNC.org/september-photo-club. Walk-ins are welcome.
Audubon To Hold First Sunday Story Time Oct. 4
The Audubon Community Nature Center will hold its monthly First Sunday Story Time from 12:30 to 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4, for children ages 3 to 8 and a guardian. Doors open at 12:20 p.m. The program and building admission are both free. Story time is led by Claire Certo. After story time, those attending can visit with live animals, exhibits and Blue Heron Gift Shop indoors as well as go outside to see resident birds of prey, walk the trails, and have fun in the outdoor Nature Play Area. Reservations are requested by Saturday, Oct. 3, by calling 716-569-2345 or go to AudubonCNC.org/October-first-sunday. Participation is limited to 15, walk-ins are welcome if there is room.
First Lutheran Church To County Jail Chaplain For Discussion On Oct. 6
Zach Wolfe, chaplain of the Warren County Prison Ministry for nearly 20 years, kicks off First Lutheran Church's fifth season of lectures at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6. Wolfe will draw from his firsthand experience serving incarcerated individuals and their families and discuss discrimination within the prison system, the challenges people face when returning to society and the barriers that often stand in the way of rebuilding their lives. Wolfe oversees volunteers who minister to incarcerated individuals and their children. He also serves as director of South Asian ministries at Hillcrest Church in Jamestown.
