Pittsfield church to celebrate 125th anniversary

The Sanford United Methodist Church, 2550 Sanford Road, Pittsfield, will celebrate its 125th anniversary at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 30. The event is open to the public. Special invitations have been issued to present and former pastors. The anniversary celebration will kick off with a special service followed by refreshments and fellowship. The service will be livestreamed on the Sanford United Methodist Church Facebook page for those unable to attend in person.

Spring clean-ups

Youngsville Borough will hold its Spring Clean-up event for residents from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 13, at the Borough Building on Railroad Street. Borough residents are eligible and identification will be checked. The cost is $10 per car or $20 per truck. Items that will not be accepted include: tires, batteries, paint cans, propane tanks, computers, monitors, computer peripherals, televisions, other electronic devices, and hazardous materials.

Elk Township will hold its Spring Clean-up event for residents from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 20, at the township maintenance garage. Township residents are eligible. The cost is $10 per car or van and $20 per truck. Items that will not be accepted include: oil, paint, liquid hazardous waste, asbestos, fluorescent bulbs, propane tanks, computers, and yard waste will be accepted. Televisions and tires will be accepted at an added fee based on size. Residents may call the township office at (814) 757-5818 for more information.

Support Group meets April 17

The Caregiver Support Group will hold its next noon meeting on Monday, April 17, at Wesley Parlor of Grace United Methodist Church, 501 Pennsylvania Ave., E., Warren. The meeting is designed for sharing of concerns and problems and is open to anyone interested in Alzheimer’s Disease or other dementia-related diseases. All caregivers are encouraged to attend. Many Alzheimer’s Association pamphlets will be available as well as a library of books on dementia-related subjects. Information about the Walk to End Alzheimer’s Disease on Saturday, Sept. 16, will be available, including an opportunity to register to walk as a team or individual. Those attending are asked to enter the church through the elevator entrance. Blood drives to be held

Community Blood Bank will host two Warren County blood drives next week. The first will be held from noon to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, at Holy Redeemer Church. The second will be from noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, at Youngsville Volunteer Fire Department.
