Church to host Harvest dinner

The Akeley United Methodist Church, 541 Akeley Road, Russell, will hold a drive-through Harvest dinner from 4 to 6:30 p.m. (or until sold out) Saturday, Oct. 29. Dinners include roast turkey, gravy, scalloped potatoes, stuffing, green beans, cole slaw, roll, and choice of apple or pumpkin pie. The cost of dinner is a donation. All proceeds benefit church programs.

Great Hallo-Weenie Fest is Saturday

Russell United Methodist Church, 17 N. Main St., Russell, will hold the Great Hallo-Weenie Fest from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29. The free event will feature hot dogs — Hallo-weenies — featuring Pastor Bay’s famous mustard, a pumpkin carving event, costume contest, games, events, candy, prizes, music and message.

Blood drive set for Nov. 1

The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive from 1 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, at First Presbyterian Church of Warren. Prospective donors may schedule appointments using the Red Cross Blood Donor App, visiting RedCrossBlood.org or calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767). “The American Red Cross is asking blood and platelet donors to give soon to keep the blood supply from dropping ahead of the busy holiday season,” Regional Communications Manager Nicole Roschella said. “People of all blood types are needed, especially platelet donors and those with type O blood — blood products that are critical to keeping hospitals ready to help patients depending on transfusions in the weeks ahead.”

SpendLess fall

SpendLess discount grocery and merchandise store, 1751 Market St., is holding a grand re-opening on Oct. 29 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. that will include over 20 vendors for a fall festival as well as free trick or treating for kids. A costume contest will be held at 2 p.m. Mariotta’s Philly House and Grill will be celebrating its grand opening that day, as well. SpendLess has been open since May 2021 but was at a different location in the same plaza. SpendLess offers groceries and merchandise at discount prices.

Second Harvest distribution

The Second Harvest Produce Express will be at the Otterbein United Methodist Church, 258 Dalrymple St., Pittsfield, on Tuesday, Nov. 1. Food pick-up will begin promptly at 2:30 p.m. and 80 families will be served on a first-come-first-served basis. No pre-registration is required.

Bridge results

Pat Fincher and Shellie Dahlie claimed top honors with Lynn Way and Richard Woodruff in second on Monday at the YMCA. Sherry Griffiths and Connie Michell were first and second Tuesday afternoon at the Allegheny Community Center. At the Woman’s Club Thursday afternoon, Peggy Morgan was first and Donna Hickey came in second.
