Community Blood Bank To Hold Blood Drives

Community Blood Bank has two drives in Warren County scheduled for next week:

¯ Holy Redeemer Church in Warren – noon to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16; and

¯ Youngsville Fire Hall – noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 17.

Appointments are not required but are recommended and may be made by calling (814) 456-4206.

“The blood inventory remains at severely low levels while the need for blood increases,” according to a release from Community Blood Bank Community Relations Specialist Erika DePalma. “All blood types are needed and there is no better time for people to donate than now.”

Caregivers’ Support Group to meet

The next meeting of the Caregivers’ Support Group will be held at noon Monday, Aug. 15, at Grace United Methodist Church, 501 Pennsylvania Ave. E., Warren. Those attending the meeting are asked to enter the building via the elevator entrance from the parking lot to the Wesley Parlor and are welcome to bring a bag lunch and beverage, if they want. The meetings are not exclusively for caregivers. All meetings are open to anyone interested in learning more about Alzheimers’ Disease and other dementias Time will be set aside during the meeting for questions and sharing.

Details will be announced about the upcoming Warren Walk to End Alzheimer’s Disease scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 24 at Betts Park. Educational materials and dates of planned classes will also be available. Those interested in more information about the group may call Karen at (814) 723-9592 or Linda at (814) 726-1199.

Garden club meets

The Hill & Dale Garden Club meeting was held on July 27 at the Wrightsville Community Church. Members reported weeding the mile markers and met with Girl Scouts to help when weed the Sugar Grove Park Garden, though fall flowers are needed there. More Fall flowers are also needed for the Rouse Garden Therapy on September 12. There will be a work bee before then. The next meeting will be August 24 for a tour of the Olmsted Manor in Ludlow. The group will carpool from the Sugar Grove Park at 11:15 a.m. Attendees will be asked to pay $5 for the tour.
