Garden club meets

The Hill and Dale Garden Club held its first meeting of the year on April 28 at the Lottsville United Methodist Church. A total of 23 people attended. The Bird Committee reported there has been a family of eagles in the Valley. It was also reported that the Orioles and Hummingbirds are back. The speaker was Kelly Armour from the Erie Art Center who presented music and ballads from different cultures all pertaining to gardens. Many of these came from immigrants from different countries who now live in the Erie area. She played different instruments and/or sang. Garden Therapy will be held at the Rouse Home on May 16 at 1:00 p.m. and the group will be painting the yogurt cups on May 9 at 1:30.

Township clean-up is Friday, Saturday

The Conewango Township Community Residential Spring Clean-Up will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the township building, 4 Fireman St. The cost is $10 per car load, $20 per truck or trailer load. The cost helps offset the cost of bringing roll-off containers for the event. Unwanted household items and appliances are welcome, with the following exceptions. Commercial waste, tires, electronics, hazardous waste, yard waste, propane tanks, and batteries will not be accepted. Residents who have questions may contact the township secretary at (814) 723-6410 or conewangotownship@gmail.com. The township reserves the right to reject unsuitable items.

Motivational speaker to be at library

A motivational speaker is returning to Warren County with a message of hope. A free, public, community event featuring Marc Mero will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, at Struthers Library Theatre. Mero will speak at all four Warren County School District high schools during the school day on Wednesday. He was invited to return to the community — he was last here in 2018 — by concerned parents who had an interest in presenting positive messages in the wake of several tragedies in the district this year. Mero’s visit is presented by community sponsors with the support of Warren County School District.
