Philomel holds

program

The Philomel Club of Warren recently held its April program at the Woman’s Club of Warren. Denise Pearson performed two selections on the flute accompanied by Jack Hemink on piano. The selections were “Beneath the Cross of Jesus” arranged by David Ferreira and “Sunshine in My Soul” arranged by Brent Olstad. Next, a trio of performers consisting of Dr. Thomas Gaskin (cello), Deena Winters (piano) and Rebecca Darbee (flute) performed “Pastoral” by Antonio Vivaldi and “Anitra’s Danse” by Edvard Grieg. Rebecca Darbee then performed “Moderato” by Vaclav Nelhybik on the alto flute and “Un Joueur de Flute Berce les Ruines” by Francis Poulenc on the flute. The program ended with “Tango” by Vinicio Meza played by Rebecca Darbee (flute) and Jack Hemink (piano). The Philomel Club will meet on Wednesday, May 13 at the Woman’s Club of Warren for a spring luncheon, program, and annual meeting.

Mom Prom returns

The non-profit Caring For Life will host the 9th Mom Prom on Friday, May 6, beginning at 7 p.m. at the Conewango Club. This year’s theme is “Dance of the Decades.” Women 21 and over are encouraged to come out and enjoy a fun evening of dancing, appetizers, and a cash bar. DJ Josh Bigelow will be returning once again this year with all of the classic dance floor favorites. Funding raised will support families with seriously ill children in Warren County.
