The Youngsville Free Library will hold a free story time program from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday

Target ages are 3-6 years, but all are welcome. No registration required. Come and enjoy some January, snow-themed stories, songs, activities, and more. Youngsville Library story time is scheduled for the second Tuesday of each month from 10:30 to 11 a.m.

The library will also host three free CareerLink workshops on Wednesday led by Rebecca Whitney. From noon to 1 p.m., Whitney is offering a walk-in question-and-answer period where area residents can ask question regarding general job search help, resume assistance, navigating the PA CareerLink site, how to register online for future workshops and more. The “Budgeting 101” workshop from 1 to 2 p.m. and the “CareerLink Overview & WIOA Program overview” workshop from 2 to 3 p.m. require registration. At the 2 to 3 p.m. overview workshops, those attending will learn about the free services offered through PA CareerLink, partner organizations and how to get started on a career path. They will also learn about the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), eligibility requirements, and various training opportunities.

It is possible to attended either the Budgeting or CareerLink/WIOA Overview” workshops via phone call (cell or landline) or via computer, for those unable to attend in person at the library. YMCA EVENTS:

A 30 days for $30 trial membership opportunity is being offered by the Youngsville YMCA during January or February 2022. No long-term contract to sign. Membership options for this promotion include: family membership, single-parent family membership, seniors, senior-family, and more. One 30 day membership per unit. During the 30 day for $30 trial membership register for programs and classes too. At the end of the membership period those interested can opt for annual membership (without paying a joining fee) or just allow the 30 day membership to expire without penalty. Beginning Monday, the Youngsville YMCA is offering Group Cycle Classes with Jill from 4:45 to 5:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays. Students are not required to attend every class. The cost is $3 per class for YMCA members or $6 for non-members or $20 for YMCA members or $40 for non-members for a five-hour punch card. Other volume cards also available for purchase. The YMCA allows those who participate to call ahead to reserve a bike/space for each class but walk-ins are welcome if cycle space is available. Call 814-802-1618.

A new high intensity circuit workout class for all fitness levels is now being off at the Youngsville YMCA each Monday and Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. Class instructor is Alex Nielsen. The first Saturday of each month is a “Community Free Day” at the Youngsville YMCA from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. for anyone age 12 or older. Drop in anytime during the community free day to take a tour, try out the equipment, learn about what classes are available, and maybe even take advantage of the 30 days for $30 promotion during January and February.

NEW ADULT

ACTIVITY CENTER

A new Adult Activity Center will be open to the community every Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m, beginning Jan. 14. The Adult Activity Center is located in the Education Building (Church Street entrance) of the Youngsville First United Methodist Church at 225 E. Main St., Youngsville. Initial operating hours are limited to Fridays only, with more weekdays added as participation increases. The church will hold a public Consecration Service to bless the new center on Jan. 16 at 1 p.m. in the sanctuary, followed by an open-house reception in the Adult Activity Center.

The purpose of this Adult Activity Center is to provide a free-of-charge, informal meeting place for adults to gather for fellowship, socializations, education, indoor recreation (e.g. board games, jigsaw puzzles, card games, crafting), entertainment, or to worship.

The target audience for this new Youngsville United Methodist Church Adult Activity Center ministry is adults who find themselves in circumstances that limit their ability to have social interaction with their friends or other peers. Clients must still be able to tend to their person hygiene needs, is not afflicted from dementia or other cognitive impairment, and is mobile or can be mobile with the aid of a walker, cane, or wheelchair. Clients are not required to be professing Christians to use the facility.
