Blood Drive

Community Blood Bank will host a blood drive from noon to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21, at the Holy Redeemer Center in Warren. Blood types O-positive and O-negative are in particularly short supply. All donors will be entered in drawings for one of four $100 Walmart gift cards. Appointments are encouraged to reduce wait times, but not required. Anyone interested in scheduling an appointment may contact Mobile Drive Coordinator Shari Jerman at (814) 688-3696.

Garden club to meet

The next meeting of the Hill and Dale Garden Club will be held Wednesday, Sept. 22 at 12:30 p.m. at the Wiltsie Church. The program will be spring plantings by Master Gardener Sally Asbury. Small artificial flowers are still being collected for the Rouse Garden Therapy arrangements and this meeting will also include a plant sale. Anyone wishing to paint pots is asked to bring their own.

DivorceCare at First United Methodist Church

People who are hurting, in any form, from the sting of divorce or separation are urged to find refuge in DivorceCare, an educational support and discussion group offered at First United Methodist Church, 200 Market St., from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday evenings. The church has been offering this ministry since 2003. The 13 sessions are offered in succession, so participants can attend at any time. Meetings are generally attended by fewer than 10 people, offering an intimate setting in which to discuss the material each week. Participants range in age from mid-20s to elderly, are male and female, and are involved in the ends of marriages that lasted anywhere from a short time to many decades. Some have even attended that have or are contemplating divorce. DivorceCare offers a daily Bible study, which is optional for participants. Session information is offered in the form of workbooks and videos on topics such as healing, anger, depression, loneliness, etc. There is a DC4K (DivorceCare 4 Kids), a program for children ages 5-12 of families experiencing divorce and separation, available upon request. Meetings will be held at 200 Market Street on Monday evenings beginning September 20. For more information, call Heidi Ketzko through the church office at (814) 723-4930.

Art league show set

The Warren Art League will hold its Fall Show at the Art Kelsey Park Gazebo Pavilion, 218 Liberty Street and Midtown Lot on Saturday, Oct. 2 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. rain or shine. For more information, call Wilma at (352) 425-4529 for more information.

Outdoor Club to kayak Sunday

Members of the Allegheny Outdoor Club will kayak Sunday at Chapman Dam. The group will meet at the boat launch parking area at 2 p,m. Anyone with any questions is asked to call Linda Ross at (814) 688-5908.
