A Youngsville man was jailed Friday on $100,000 bail after allegedly using Facebook Messenger to have lewd and unlawful discussions with an alleged 15-year-old girl.
Raymond L. Champlin, 53, of Youngsville was charged first-degree unlawful contact with a minor – sexual offenses; third-degree felony unlawful contact with a minor – open lewdness and third-degree criminal use of a communication facility.
He was arraigned Friday by Magisterial District Court Judge Raymond Zydonik, who set bail at $100,000. Champlin was unable to post bail and was taken to the Warren County Prison.
Champlin will return to court Sept. 9 for a preliminary hearing in front of Zydonik.
According to the Affidavit of Probable cause, the Messenger account with whom Champlin was communicating was managed by undercover police. Champlin allegedly thought he was talking to a 15-year-old.
