Four Flags Ceremony likely moving indoors Saturday due to rain forecasts
The annual Four Flags Ceremony is expected to be moved indoors Saturday due to weather forecasts predicting cold temperatures and a high chance of rain.
The ceremony was originally scheduled for 10 a.m. at Heritage Point at Crescent Park, where residents gather each year to honor the region’s history. However, organizers now say conditions, forecasted at around 45 degrees with a 93% chance of rain, will likely force a relocation.
If the change is finalized, the event will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church. A sign will be placed at Crescent Park directing attendees to the alternate location.
Despite the shift indoors, the program will continue as planned, honoring the Native American, French, English, and American histories tied to the region through the traditional Four Flags Ceremony.
The Four Flags Ceremony remains a longstanding tradition in Warren, celebrating the area’s complex history and early governance. This year’s keynote speaker is expected to be Michael Marinkovich, a park ranger at Chapman Dam State Park, with Michael Suppa serving as master of ceremonies.
