Cody Brown wins DA race; Dave Wortman remains Warren mayor

Cody Brown will be the next district attorney of Warren County.

Brown, who earlier in the year won a Republican primary election against Casey Strickland, again defeated Strickland on Tuesday, 5,748 to 4,732.

“I want to thank the voters of Warren County and everyone who supported me in this race,” Brown said in a Facebook post early Wednesday morning after vote results were announced. “Your support and trust in my record of public service and my vision for the District Attorney’s office is sincerely appreciated. I am truly humbled that a county in which I was born and raised is giving me an opportunity to continue to serve and lead in this new role. I look forward to my continued work with our dedicated men and women in law enforcement. Together we will remain focused on keeping Warren County a safe place to live.”

The position became open after Rob Greene, incumbent district attorney, announced in 2024 that he would not run for re-election in order to focus his efforts on pro-marijuana advocacy. Brown, who is currently the county’s first assistant district attorney, and Strickland, who is the county’s second assistant district attorney, quickly announced their candidacies and have spent the past year trying cases while running for district attorney. Greene on Wednesday thanked both candidates for their efforts over the past year.

“I want to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude to my Assistant District Attorneys Cody Brown and Casey Strickland for their tremendous efforts during this election season,” Greene said in a Facebook post. “Both your dedication, hard work, and commitment to justice while serving Warren County have not gone unnoticed, and it is an honor to witness your passion for serving our community. I want to extend my heartfelt congratulations to the winner of the election, District Attorney Cody Brown. This achievement is a testament to your capability and vision. I have no doubt that you will continue to advocate for fairness with integrity and continue to be a champion for victims of crime and those in need. I confidently look forward to handing over the reins to Cody and wish you both the best of luck. Thank you both for your service and dedication to our community and serving with integrity and honor.”

Voters in Region 3 of the Warren County School District have elected Misty Moore to the school board. Moore received 2,319 votes, while incumbent Mary Passinger received 1,221. In Region 2, Robert Cook received 2,657 votes while running unopposed while in Region 1 Paul Mangione and Bridget Schwab were elected with 2,252 votes and 1,924 votes, respectively.

David Wortman will remain the mayor of Warren after defeating Independent challenger Phil Gilbert, 1,307 to 819.

Jared Villella, Will Champlin and Maurice Cashman were elected to the City Council, running unopposed, with 1,419, 1,347 and 1,166 votes, respectively.

Todd Woodin has been elected to the Court of Common Pleas. Woodin, currently a Magisterial District Judge, ran unopposed and received 9,523 total votes.
