Brown wins GOP District Attorney primary

Cody Brown will have the Republican Party’s endorsement for the November election for Warren County District attorney.
Brown received 2,356 (55.5%) of the 4,242 ballots cast by county Republicans on Tuesday while Casey Strickland received 1,886 votes. There are only 12 unresolved write-in ballots for the Republican primary.
There was no Democratic Party candidate on Tuesday’s ballot, but there are 724 unresolved write-in ballots – 544 cast on Tuesday and another 180 mail-in ballots. That race will be resolved later.
Paul Mangione and Bridget Schwab will be the only candidates on the ballot in November for the Warren County School District Board of Education in Region 1. Mangione and Schwab received the most votes in the Democratic Party primary, 271 and 211 votes, respectively, defeating Steve Parinella (198), Savannah Casey (190) and Zach Ransom (156). In the Republican Party primary, Mangione received 553 votes and Schwab 455 votes, while Parinella received 413 votes, Casey received 301 votes and Ransom received 134 votes. The top two finishers in each primary earned a spot on the November election ballot.
In Region 2, Robert Cook will run unopposed after winning the Democratic Party primary against Jeff Labesky, 318 to 209, and the Republican primary 846 to 356. The Region 3 primary will have a contested election in November after Mary Passinger won the Democratic Party primary 279-268 over Misty Moore, while Moore won the Republican primary 1,097-524. Passinger would seem to face an uphill battle in November given the turnout advantage for Republicans in Tuesday’s primary, where 3,787 of the county’s 4,962 voters were registered Republicans.
Melissa Zydonik earned the Republican nod for county coroner, defeating Shawn Silvis 3,145-968 with only seven unresolved write-in ballots yet to be counted.
Karen Eggleston won the Democratic Party primary for Warren West Judge of Election, garnering 53 votes to Michael Striker’s 11 votes.
In Bear Lake, there is a contested primary for Republicans for the election inspector position between Barbara Dunn and Susan Crosby. Dunn earned the nomination, 13-7.
Columbus Township Republicans will vote in a primary election for town supervisor between Todd J. Walker Jr. and Tim Yetzer. Yetzer will be the endorsed Republican candidate, winning the line on the ballot by a 160-38 vote.
Farmington Township Republicans had the choice of Sherry Johnson and Susan R. Sanden to serve as election inspector. Johnson won the primary 94-59.
Patricia Cameron defeated Karen Wilcox, 142-69, in the Republican primary for Pleasant Township tax collector.
Mark E. McCann II is the winner of the Triumph Township Republican primary for town supervisor, 33-20, over James M. Ziegler.
