Between 65 and 70 acres on land are currently on fire around Watson Township.

Crews have been battling the wildfire for several hours. The fire is currently “going up both sides of the valley” and at Route 62, said Jay Lindemuth, DCNR Bureau of Forestry Fire Forester.

A hand-dug line created by first responders to contain the wildfire reportedly did not hold. Fire crews were disengaged out of safety concerns, and efforts turned to aircraft to douse the fire.
