Graduation held for Radiography students

BRADFORD — The Bradford Regional Medical Center School of Radiography held a graduation luncheon for its class of 2020 recently.

The informal luncheon was held in lieu of a graduation ceremony this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We still felt it was important to celebrate the accomplishments of our graduates,” said Jeanne Capra, BRMC School of Radiography program director.

The following graduates also earned bachelor’s degrees in radiologic science from the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford: Olivia Allgeier, Erie; Noelle Austin, Emporium; Bryce Henry, Smethport; Janice Lindgren, Eldred; Elizabeth Marsh, Warren; Mychaela Jones, Eldred; Morgan Josephson, Youngsville; Taylor West, Sugar Grove; Ryanne Yehl, Salamanca.

The following graduates also earned associate degrees in applied science from Jamestown Community College: Molly Arrance, Kennedy; and Jaymie Bennett, Shinglehouse.

Emily Knowles of Clarendon also earned an associate degree from Clarion University.

The graduates are in the process of taking the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) certification exam.

“As a 1984 graduate of the school, I have had the privilege to work with many classes over the years. The class of 2020 has been excellent, both clinically and academically,” Capra said. “Since joining the program, these students have faced many challenges related to several technological advances. Now, as graduates, I can say without hesitation that they are more than prepared to succeed in any health care environment.”

The School of Radiography, part of the Imaging Services Department at BRMC, is a 24-month program providing didactic and clinical instruction. More than 800 hours of a student’s time is spent in the classroom, and an additional 2,300 hours of clinical education is provided through the program. Since its establishment in 1978, the school has graduated more than 300 students from its two year course.
