In a recent story entitled “Since 1966: 2016 marks 50 years for Scandia Volunteer Fire Department – with some creativity along the way,” Tim Birt donated the land that the fire hall now sits on, atop the “mountain.” His name was incorrectly spelled Burt in the story.

Janice Thompson, 82, who was found not guilty on Sept. 15 on a stop sign violation, is from Pittsfield, not Warren.

Warren-based state police responded Sept. 25 to a two-vehicle accident on Kinzua Road at its intersection with Keenan Street. A 2004 Kia Sorento, driven by Brindy R. Greenawalt, 23, Erie, was traveling west and failed to compensate for a right-hand curve in the roadway and struck a 1998 Ford Explorer, driven by Edwin G. Rickerson, 50, Warren, head on. A three-month-old passenger in Greenawalt’s vehicle was transported to Warren General Hospital as a precaution. No other injuries were reported. Clarendon Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene. Greenawalt was cited for meeting vehicle proceeding in opposite direction.
