— SUGAR GOVE — An 18-year-old Sugar Grove woman was injured after swerving to avoid a deer on Stillwater Road on Sept. 9.
Kaitlyn M. Johnson was traveling east on Stillwater Road, east of Turnpike Cemetery Road, at approximately 5:51 a.m. when a deer unexpectedly entered the road. Johnson swerved to avoid striking the deer and her 2010 Ford Escape entered a ditch on the left side of the road. The vehicle’s airbags deployed.
Johnson was wearing a seat belt and sustained suspected minor injuries. She was transported by EmergyCare to Warren General Hospital for further medical treatment.
— PITTSFIELD — A Garland man reported an attempted theft after catching two juvenile males allegedly trying to steal beer from a cooler outside his residence in Pittsfield Township. The incident occurred Aug. 13 at approximately 12:56 a.m. at 4295 Route 27.
The victim was identified as John Zeleznik, 36. The report listed the value of the stolen property as $10.
— Two drivers and a passenger escaped injury after a two-vehicle crash on Route 6 in Mead Township on Sept. 8. The crash occurred at approximately 12:30 p.m. in the area of 10978 Route 6.
George R. Jashurek, 79, of Sheffield, was driving a 2025 Subaru Outback westbound on Route 6 when he lost control of the vehicle. The Subaru crossed the double yellow center line and struck a 2011 Toyota RAV4 that had come to a complete stop in the eastbound travel lane.
The RAV4 was driven by Adrienne L. Hines, 69, of Warren. Jeremy L. Cordell, 32, of Russell, was a passenger in the vehicle.
None of the occupants reported injuries, and no one was transported for medical treatment. All occupants were wearing seat belts, and no airbags deployed.
State police charged Jashurek with driving on the right side of the road.
— A fallen tree on Route 62 in Watson Township contributed to a two-vehicle crash Sept. 10 that resulted in suspected minor injuries.
The crash occurred at approximately 6:25 a.m. in the area of 6275 Route 62, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
Police said a 2019 Ford F-450 was traveling northbound when its driver, Daniel E. Anderson, 64, of East Hickory, observed a tree had fallen across the roadway. Anderson was able to stop before striking the tree.
A 2011 Dodge Avenger, driven by Edward M. Ruggieri Jr., 36, of Tidioute, was traveling southbound. Ruggieri was unable to see the tree because of his vehicle’s headlights and struck it. The Dodge became airborne and struck the rear quarter panel of the Ford.
The Ford came to a final rest off the east side of the roadway. Ruggieri reported suspected minor injuries but refused transportation for medical treatment. Anderson was not injured and also refused transport.
All occupants were wearing seat belts. The airbags deployed in the Dodge.
PennDOT, Pleasant Volunteer Fire Department, Tidioute Volunteer Fire Department, Hillview Towing, EmergyCare and local residents assisted at the scene. Residents helped cut up the tree so the roadway could be reopened.
— Pennsylvania State Police are investigating after an underage indvidual was found in possession of suspected controlled substances during an arrest in Tidioute Borough.
According to a state police report, the incident occurred Aug. 27 at approximately 5:54 a.m. near Main Street and Sheridan Street.
Police said the person was taken into custody on an unrelated arrest warrant when suspected controlled substances were discovered in the person’s possession.
The investigation remains pending the results of a drug identification laboratory test.
