Tidioute man jailed after domestic incident

A Tidioute man has been jailed on $25,000 bail after a domestic incident on Friday in Limestone Township.

According to the State Police at Warren, Thomas E. Peterson Jr., 67, of Tidioute was charged with simple assault, unlawful restraint, second-degree felony strangulation/applying pressure to the throat or neck and harassment. The incident allegedly took place Thursday. Peterson was preliminarily arraigned Friday by Magisterial District Judge Daniel Miller in Forest County and jailed after being unable to post bail, according to online court docket documents. Peterson will be in court again May 14, again in front of Judge Miller.

According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, State Police at Warren responded to Limestone Township at 2:35 p.m. Friday for a reported past-tense domestic incident. The woman said at 7 p.m. Thursday, she arrived at Peterson’s home, where there was allegedly an argument when Peterson asked to borrow her vehicle. At that time the argument was verbal only. The woman told troopers that Peterson awoke at 10 p.m. and started yelling at the woman again before allegedly putting his hands around the woman’s throat. The woman tried to kick Peterson away, according to the affidavit. Peterson then allegedly slapped the woman again.

The two then left the home in Peterson’s vehicle, driving toward Warren while the argument continued. The woman allegedly asked Peterson to stop the vehicle several times and opened the passenger side door, which prompted Peterson to allegedly put his arm around the woman’s throat to pull her back toward the driver’s side of the vehicle.

The argument continued to be physical, including Peterson allegedly breaking her glasses and injuring the woman’s nose and left side of her face. The woman eventually was dropped off at her home in Corry.

Starting at $3.50/week.
