NY man wanted on local kidnapping charges taken into custody

JAMESTOWN, NY — A 38-year-old Jamestown man wanted on a kidnapping charge in Warren County was taken into custody early Wednesday.

In a news release, Jamestown police announced the arrest of Michael D. Johnson on a fugitive from justice charge. He was picked up around 1:45 a.m. Wednesday during a street check in Brooklyn Square.

Police learned that Johnson was wanted on a warrant in Pennsylvania for interference with custody of children, concealment of the whereabouts of a child and kidnapping of a minor.

Johnson was transported to Jamestown City Jail without incident and was being held for arraignment in Jamestown City Court.

Authorities in Pennsylvania have not yet released details regarding Johnson’s pending charges in Warren County.
