Youngsville man faces new charges in rape case

A Youngsville man accused of rape of a child faces new charges following court action on Wednesday.

Adam C. Burleigh, 23, was initially charged with rape of a child; two counts of aggravated indecent assault of a child; two counts of unlawful contact with a minor — sexual offenses; all felonies of the first degree; sexual assault, a second-degree felony; felony corruption of minors; misdemeanor corruption of minors; and two counts of indecent assault — person less than 13 years of age, also misdemeanors.

The charges were modified on Wednesday with one of the counts of indecent assault being changed from a misdemeanor to a felony and two counts of felony aggravated indecent assault — forcible compulsion — being added.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, the alleged victim reported being touched inappropriately by Burleigh in January and, in July, being grabbed by the arm, led into Burleigh’s room, and pushed onto the bed. She told a forensic interviewer that Burleigh had sex with her and that she told him to stop.

All charges were moved forward to the Court of Common Pleas following Wednesday’s hearing.

Burleigh remains in Warren County Jail after failing to post $100,000 bail.

Formal arraignment is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Thursday, March 9.

Starting at $3.50/week.
