Man pleads guilty for home invasion
A Warren man has pleaded guilty to his role in a pretty unique break in.
Joshua A. Farnsworth, 31, Warren, pleaded guilty to criminal trespass — break into structure, a third-degree felony, before President Judge Maureen Skerda on Thursday morning.
In exchange for the plea, charges of burglary, impersonating a public servant and public drunkenness were not prosecuted.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, Pennsylvania State Police responded to a Weiler Road address back in September at about 10:20 p.m. and found Farnsworth in the kitchen of the home. “The defendant appeared to be highly intoxicated and did not know where he was,” police said.
The victim, one of the residents home at the time of the alleged incident, told police that Farnsworth came to the porch and told her he was “an officer who was conducting an investigation about a homicide and was looking for witnesses and suspects,” according to the affidavit. “The defendant told her he was with NCIS and began yelling at the victim, telling her to ‘go home.'”
She told police Farnsworth went to a basement door and pushed his way through the door and the concrete blocks inside it.
“He began walking up the stairs to the main living area,” the victim told police.
The victims went into another room and one “tried to secure the door leading to the basement with her body,” police said. “The defendant then forced his way through the door while she was against it.”
Immediately after Farnsworth allegedly pushed his way through the door, police arrived, according to the affidavit. “The victim related that she was in fear of her life because she did not know who he was and what he intended to do to her or (the other victim).”
The following defendants also pleaded guilty:
¯ William J. Moore, 28, Warren, to DUI, driving on a DUI-suspended license and accident damage to unattended vehicle or property. Charges including two counts of DUI, flight to avoid apprehension, loitering and prowling at night time, driving an unregistered vehicle, careless driving and scattering rubbish were not prosecuted.
