Drug delivery charges bound over after preliminary hearing

A Youngsville woman charged with delivering drugs that resulted in death has been held for court.

Stephanie S. Kightlinger, 27, remains in the Warren County Jail on a litany of drug charges in the wake of Wednesday’s preliminary hearing.

In addition to the charge of drug delivery resulting in death, Kightlinger was charged with five counts of criminal use of a communication facility, and possession with intent to deliver controlled substances.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, the City of Warren Fire Department responded to a Pennsylvania Ave. W. address for a report of a cardiac arrest on Sunday, Dec. 18. The male victim was declared dead at the scene, according to police.

“After the male’s passing, officers were notified that circular blue pills … that had an ‘M’ imprint on them … were found,” according to the affidavit.

The criminal complaint alleges that “Kightlinger did deliver and give suspected fentanyl to another person resulting in death.”

Police interviewed Kightlinger on Jan. 24, according to the affidavit. “The defendant admitted to purchasing and delivering the above pills to the deceased just prior to his death.”

The name of the victim was not released by police nor listed in the court documents.

The burden of proof at a preliminary hearing is lower than other levels of court. It’s defined as a prima facia case — that the Commonwealth must prove that a crime was committed and that the accused was likely the one who committed the crime.

Cases held for court before a magisterial district judge at preliminary hearings proceed to the next level – the Warren County Court of Common Pleas.
