New York man pleads in attempted stabbing
A New York man has pleaded guilty to aggravated assault from an incident where he threatened to kill an individual with a “big boy blade.”
Jason A. Hogle, 38, Olean, pleaded guilty to charges of aggravated assault, resisting arrest and contraband before President Judge Maureen Skerda this week.
Hogle was charged back in April.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, Hogle said to the alleged victim, who was driving a female victim home from work, that he was waiting with a “big boy blade” and was “going to kill him.”
The alleged victims told police Hogle was waiting for them when they arrived at a Terrace Street residence. “The defendant approached the vehicle, passenger side first, and produced a knife,” police said. “The passenger side window was down and the defendant reached inside the vehicle and attempted to stab (the victim) with the knife,.”
According to the affidavit, Hogle was reaching over the woman and she told police he almost hit her multiple times.
“The defendant then moved to the driver side of the vehicle where the window was also down and attempted to stab (the victim) from that position,” according to police.
Police said the victim told them the knife was so close he could hear it moving through the air near his face.
Hogle “took off” when the victim yelled that he was calling police, according to the affidavit.
Police described the weapon, which was found later, as a “12-inch wooden and brass handled knife.”
Neither victim was injured, according to the affidavit.
In exchange for the plea, charges of simple assault, two counts of recklessly endangering another person, terroristic threats and criminal mischief.
