Warren man charged with assault, false imprisonment
A Warren man faces assault, strangulation and false imprisonment charges in the wake of a Tuesday night incident in the City of Warren.
Michael V. Petrush, 37, 9 1/2 Linwood St., was charged by City of Warren police on March 22 and released on unsecured bail, online court records show.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, a woman came to the city police station seeking information on how to obtain a protection from abuse (PFA) order. During that conversation, the victim told police that Petrush allegedly “caused her to have bruises on her face and body.”
She told police, per the affidavit of probable cause, that she was arguing with Petrush as she “would not choose him over her current husband.” Police say she tried to leave the scene and Petrush wouldn’t let her.
She told police that she attempted to leave multiple times between 10 p.m. and 3 a.m..
“Each time she attempted to leave,” the affidavit alleges, Petrush “would grab her and her items, not allowing her and her daughter to leave.”
She reported that Petrush “grabbed her face and told her she wasn’t leaving” and also allegedly grabbed her around the neck “restricting her breathing, and threw her to the ground.
“Once on the ground, (Petrush) applied pressure on her left eye using his finger,” the affidavit states, noting that the victim reported bruising under her left eye and on both cheeks as well as scratches on her neck and both arms.”
Petrush has been charged with aggravated assault, strangulation, simple assault and false imprisonment. Online court records indicate a preliminary hearing has been scheduled for early April.
