Two people involved in a motorcycle crash Monday in Brokenstraw Township suffered serious injuries.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police, Stephen P. Kelly, 60, and Betty F. Kelly, 64, both of New Castle, were flown by emergency helicopter to UPMC Hamot after suffering severe spinal injuries.

Police said the motorcycle, driven by Stephen Kelly, was eastbound on Route 6 near Abraham Hollow Road, at about 2:30 p.m. Monday, July 5, when it left the road for an unknown reason.

Police said the motorcycle continued more than 100 feet before striking a ditch, ejecting the driver and the passenger. Both were wearing helmets at the time of the crash, according to police.
