Police: Pittsfield couple scammed out of $10,000
Warren-based Pennsylvania State Police have reported that a Pittsfield couple was scammed out of $10,000.
Police say troopers responded to a Rt. 27 residence on Nov. 2 after the victim, a 65-year-old man, Pittsfield, said he was “contacted by telephone from an individual claiming he would repair the victim’s computer for approximately $350.”
“The victim,” according to a statement from police, “gave the individual his personal bank account information to allow the $350 transaction.”
Police say the sammer subsequently withdrew approximately $10,000 from the couple’s checking account.
The investigation is ongoing.
“As a reminder,” the statement said, “do not give any personal or financial information to anyone you do not know.”
