NY woman charged in theft of yard sign

It’s no secret that political yard signs — on both sides of the aisle — have been disappearing or damaged during this tense election season.

A Buffalo, N.Y. woman, however, faces charges in connection with such an offense after a trail camera caught an image of the woman, who was ultimately identified on Facebook.

Warren-based Pennsylvania State Police report that the accused, 30-year-old Lourdes A. Vera, was observed on property in Pine Grove Township at the intersection of Market St. and White Pine Ln. on Sept. 6 at 5:21 p.m.

Vera allegedly “approached a 3-foot by 5-foot Trump political sign and proceeded to vandalize it,” police report. Vera then “removed four Trump political yard signs from the property….”

Police say Vera was caught on a trail camera that was monitoring the property.

“Still shots taken from the trail camera were shared on Facebook resulting in over 3,000 shares,” police explain. “During the investigation, the arrestee was identified through Facebook; a query through the Pennsylvania Criminal Intelligence Center confirmed the identity which resulted in an interview.”
