Former Jamestown man, Erie residents indicted

ERIE, Pa. — A former Jamestown resident and two Erie residents have been indicted by a federal grand jury in Erie on a charges of violating federal firearms laws, according to United States Attorney Scott W. Brady.

The five-count indictment named Michael Deniro Hackett, 41, Kathryn Nicole Shaw, 23, and Treasure Ann Gray, 40, as defendants. According to the Indictment presented to the court, from March 9, 2020, to July 21, 2020, Hackett, Shaw and Gray allegedly conspired to violate federal straw purchase laws and acquired firearms for Hackett, who was prohibited from possessing firearms based on prior criminal convictions. The law provides for a maximum total sentence of 45 years in prison, a fine of $1,250,000, or both for Hackett and a maximum total sentence of 15 years in prison, a fine of $500,000, or both, for Shaw and Gray.

Under federal sentencing guidelines, the actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendants.

Assistant United States Attorney Paul S. Sellers is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government. The Pennsylvania State Police, Conewango Police Department and Homeland Security Investigations conducted the investigation leading to the indictment in this case.
