Local bartender cited for drinking beer on the clock

Don’t be offended if your bartender won’t drink with you.

In Pennsylvania, it is illegal for a bartender to drink while working.

The Pennsylvania legal code regarding liquor specifies that “it is unlawful for any licensee, his servants, agents or employees, to consume liquor or malt or brewed beverages while tending bar or otherwise serving alcohol.”

On Monday, June 24, the Pennsylvania State Police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement cited a bartender at Fat Daddy’s Tap Room and Grille for drinking beer while tending bar on Oct. 17, 2018.

Mark A. Markovich, 51, of Warren, faces an ungraded misdemeanor count of unlawful acts — bartender drinking.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 24.
