18-year-old to face statutory sexual assault charge
An 18-year-old Warren man has been charged with having sexual contact with a minor.
Warren-based Pennsylvania State Police reported an investigation was conducted regarding contact between Shawn S. Seekins, 18, and a 14-year old female.
A Conewango police officer originally discovered the details of the relationship while investigating another case.
The affidavit of probable cause states that the victim said Seekins knew she was a minor, as she had told him she was 13 when they first met.
Police also said that Seekins removed a SIM card from her phone and threw it away to destroy evidence.
Police allege two separate incidents of sexual contact, one at a residence on Cobham Park Rd. and one at a residence on Water St. in Warren.
Statutory sexual assault charges were filed at District Justice Laura Bauer’s office and Seekins was committed to the Warren County Jail on $10,000 monetary bail.
Online court records show that his next court date is a preliminary hearing set for March 23.
