As the holiday season approaches, Community Blood Bank is encouraging eligible donors to make an appointment to give blood during November, a month often associated with gratitude and giving back.
Blood donations are needed throughout the year to help local hospitals care for patients undergoing surgery, cancer treatment, emergency care and other medical procedures. Community Blood Bank is the sole supplier of blood products to local hospitals and relies on volunteer donors to help patients throughout the region.
November can bring additional challenges for blood collection as holiday schedules, travel and other commitments make it more difficult for some donors to find time to give.
Blood is continuously being used by hospitals, making an ongoing supply of donations necessary. A single blood donation can help support the care of multiple patients. Community Blood Bank encourages eligible donors to schedule an appointment at the following blood drive at Lander Fire Department from 4 to 8:30 p.m. Monday.
Each donor will get a crewneck sweatshirt!
"November is a time when many people reflect on what they are thankful for and look for ways to give back," said Raven Edinger, Mobile Drive Coordinator Lead at Community Blood Bank. "Giving blood is one way people can turn that spirit of giving into something that directly helps patients in our community."
