Dean’s List

Sydney Cronmiller of Russell was named to the Dean’s List at Wilkes University for the spring 2026 semester. To be named to the Dean’s List, students must obtain a minimum 3.5 grade point average and carry at least 12 credits.

Kayaking set for Sunday

On Sunday, the Allegheny Outdoor Club will be kayaking on Kinzua Bay toward Red Bridge. Meet at Musante Street in Warren at 1:30 and then travel to Dunkle Corners on Route 321 South, 7.8 miles from Route 59. This will be an out and back paddle. Tom Patterson is leading this kayak.

Christian Women group plans July 14 lunch

Jamestown-Warren Christian Women were treated in June to a fashion show by the volunteer ladies of the Outpost in Sugar Grove. The brainstorm of Rev. Billy Hughes and Sharon Hughes, the monies raised from this thrift store, celebrating 21 years, serving the community, has become the Hughes’ ministry alongside the Sugar Grove Free Methodist to give back to their community including the dozens of non-profit organizations benefiting from the store’s sales. One person’s trash becomes another’s treasure. A percentage of donations go towards missions, and monies help human trafficking rescues,local fire dept., the homeless, women’s shelters, those displaced or evicted from.homes, animal shelters and veterans groups to name a few. The next July 14 noon luncheon of Village Missions will be held at Praise Fellowship Church, Russell, with speaker Donna Hart of Jamestown and Bob Evertsen, Warren, playing instrumental music.
