Holiday weekend filled with events

Summer is just around the corner as the Memorial Day holiday weekend has arrived. Some events taking place include:

— Kicking off the camping season, the Warren County Fairgrounds. Check-out by 2 p.m. on Monday. For more information, visit https://warrencountyfair.net/holiday-camping/ or contact Sue by calling 814-730-2890 or emailing sward923@gmail.com.

— Chapman State Park has its Open House at the Beach with Animal Furs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, at the beach house. In addition, a History Walk: Woodchicks and Waterways from 2-4 p.m. meeting at parking lot 1.

— The Key Moments Childcare Center’s 2nd Annual Yard Sale fundraiser will be from 8 a.m to 4 p.m. at 677 Hospital Drive Suite J, in Warren.

— The annual Pine Grove Days takes place at North Main Street, Russell, starting with the Run for ROAR 5K at 9 a.m. $25 registration fee. Register at https://runsignup.com/Race/PA/Russell/RunForROAR. The parade will begin at 11 a.m. and from 12 to 3 p.m. Kids Zone will be available, followed by Music on the Porch from 4-7 p.m. Dancin’ in the Park at Larimer Park will be from 7-9 p.m. The night will conclude with fireworks at Larimer Park beginning at 9:15 p.m.

— Bent Run Brewery at 20 Clark St., Warren will have music with Whiskey Joe from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday.

– On Sunday, a Chicken BBQ from 1-6 p.m. promoted by Sheffield Rod & Gun Club at Austin Hill Rd. in Sheffield and will also feature Billy Mac music at 1 p.m. Tickets are for purchase from Rod & Gun Club members. Visit their Facebook page for additional information.

— Another program at Chapman State Park, Birding by Boat, (registration required; 20 person limit) will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Sunday. Meet at the Mooring Area. In the afternoon, board games and puzzles at pavilion 4 from 2-4 p.m.

— May 24 also brings an event called “Cruise and Scoops” at Frosty Jacks at 922 Newton Sanford Rd. in Pittsfield, PA from 3-7 p.m.with DJ Bobby C, cruisers can show off their cars to receive 50% off their meal. People’s choice award announced at 6:30 p.m.with $100 Frosty Jack’s gift card and trophy.

— An Open House at Miracle Mountain Ranch at 101 Rodeo Dr. in Spring Creek, PA on May 25 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Free event with no registration required; trail rides $10 per person.
