Historical Society planning Saturday open house
One of our displays of early sewing machines, from the personal collection of Mrs. Laura Brainard.
Elk Township Historical Society will host its first open house of the year on Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. It is located in the former Scandia School, at the four corners in Scandia. The building houses a restored 1800s classroom and a museum of early life in Elk Township.
It has been cleaned and polished. The society looks forward to showcasing the new items recently donated.
There are loads of reference material including photographs, obituaries, school records, grave stones, early families, barn foundations and more for residents trying to locate information about an ancestor.
The museum welcomes all ages, is free to visit and a few of our Board members will be available to answer questions and guide you through your visit. Its mission is to keep Elk Township history for generations who follow.
