Youngsville Life

Please email community news to Colette Nelson at Colettenel.ypl@gmail.com by Wednesday of each week to be included in the Youngsville News section of the Saturday paper.

The Halgren-Wilcox American Legion Auxiliary in Youngsville remains the same: a deep commitment to supporting local students as they take their next big step.

With recent school consolidations, many students who once would have attended Youngsville High School are now enrolled in other county schools or participating in cyber education programs. Recognizing this change, the Halgren-Wilcox American Legion Auxiliary in Youngsville has updated its scholarship guidelines to ensure no eligible student is left behind.

Any graduating senior who still lives within the former Youngsville High School attendance area and plans to continue their education, whether at a college, university, or trade school, is encouraged to apply. Educational paths may look different today, but ambition, dedication, and community roots still matter just as much.

The auxiliary has also updated its application review process, which may differ from those used by the American Legion Post and Sons of the American Legion 658.

All scholarship applications must be completed and submitted no later than May 1, at 5 p.m.

Late applications cannot be accepted, so students are encouraged to apply early.

Once applications have been reviewed, selected recipients will receive a special invitation to attend a Scholarship Reception on Sunday, May 17, at noon. The celebratory event gives the auxiliary an opportunity to recognize students and congratulate them on their achievements.

Scholarship funds will be officially awarded after recipients submit proof of their first‒semester grades.

Applications and required materials should be mailed or emailed to the Halgren-Wilcox American Legion Auxiliary in Youngsville, Scholarship Committee, 10 N. Main St., Youngsville, PA 16371.
