Youngsville High School Alumni offering scholarships

The Youngsville High School Alumni Scholarship Fund will be again offering scholarships at graduation in June to Warren County students residing in the former Youngsville High School attendance area.

Each scholarship will be for a minimum amount of $1,000 and will be paid to the school of the senior upon completion of his/her first semester or term at a college, university or technical school. Applications for this scholarship have been mailed to qualifying seniors and must be fully completed and returned to the Guidance Counselor no later than May 1. Members of the Alumni Scholarship Committee will review all applications and make the determination on the award recipients.

The Youngsville High School Alumni Scholarship Fund, established in 1985, is built on cash donations, memorials and endowments from Youngsville High School Alumni, Youngsville area businesses and families. Proceeds from the annual YHS Alumni Golf Tournament, scheduled this year on May 9 at Jackson Valley Country Club, also contribute several thousand dollars yearly.

Since its inception in 1985, the YHS Alumni Scholarship Fund has awarded over $290,000 to 241 graduating seniors from Youngsville High School. The first award given in 1986 was for $750. Because of the support of the community, former students and friends, the awards have increased steadily.

The aim of the scholarship award is to encourage area students to pursue further education or training after high school graduation.

Contact the guidance counselor at any Warren County School District school during school hours to obtain additional information about the scholarship.
